Blade 14 2016 and 2017 compatible chasis?
Hi,
I got a Razer Blade 14 2017 at work. It's a pretty cool laptop, but has some issues. It's a bit worn out, the speaker grids have become loose and the screen has a couple of dead pixels.
I saw a guy selling a broken Blade 14 really cheap. The problem with his machine is that the motherboard is fried. So I was thinking of getting it and fixing up my laptop.
From the photos it looks identical to my machine, but do you know if that's the case. Will I be able to replace the bottom lid of my laptop with this one?
And another thing. His machine is the touchscreen, 4K version. While my machine is the Full HD version.
Will I be able to simply switch the screens?
Or are they not compatible?

For bottom lid they’re same so you can exchange it with 2016 model but for speaker grids I think it’s easier to stick it with glue rather than taking one from other cassis isn’t it? For display it’s quite hard and need some engineering skill to do it, I saw screen FHD swap 60Hz to 144Hz on blade 15 but for FHD to QHd+ (2016 accurately QHD+ 1800p not 4K) touch I never heard it on blade laptops. I believe there’s some hardware different between those two, for example backlight logo on the touchscreen can be turned off and FHD non touch isn’t and apparently use the display light.
JoikansaiWell, my idea actually was to just take out the motherboard from my current machine and place it into the new case. But that is only in case the chassis are the same. Obviously, I wouldn't be the one doing it, I would take it to a technician.

okozlovskiI see swapping motherboard I saw success on older Blade 14, though I think it was earlier than 2016 if I’m correctly remember, similar case though he got newer cheap blade with cracked screen and put the motherboard to his older model and successful. It’s kind of lottery imo though if all would be going well, since probably there’s small hardware and software id difference, I’m guessing mostly to the display difference, I might be wrong though.

JoikansaiDo you know if the keyboards are identical as well? Because I tried to re-atach the speaker covers using a hair dryer and managed to melt the CTRL and SHIFT key. I just don't want to risk purchasing the other machine, because after the key accident, I'm pretty much ready to sell the machine for scrap or simply throw it away.
