Now gaming on Ultrabook with the New Blade Stealth 2019 v2

Right now I'm hoping this one has garbage battery life, because else I'll be very very sad about purchasing the MX150 version at 1700€ three months ago. 😭

I know that feel, bought also Blade 15 and 3 months later there was free tax action here that put it €400 lower lol, that’s what going on in technology world nowaday. However stealth MX150 gpu performance should be better than iris pro on icelake cpu, and chart below is not stealth MX150. I think with some tweak like undervolting recently I saw MX150 hits 1400+ on timespy.

I feel you as well. I think that the MX150 system has some nice benefits over the new version though, oddly enough. The GPU is a little better than the Iris system, and I have a feeling the CPU will be on par with or even slightly better than that in the GTX system (since the GTX system will only be 15 watts). Not to say I wouldn't trade for the Iris system if it came in black. The battery savings on that would be really, really awesome and I wouldn't mind a slight decrease graphics in performance when I wasn't connected to the eGPU.

Hi Razer forum, I am posting from Germany. A few weeks ago I was thinking about buying the Razer Blade Stealth with MX150 and FHD. I was reading a bit in this Forum about this laptop and got the information about some problems: - Discharging during high load -> fixed with bios by reducing the performance a bit (if it is right, what other users are telling about this). The 65W power supply seemed not to be sufficient. - step from Intel 620 GPU to MX150 was big, but price step was significant - coilwhining (see forum reports, notebookcheck, etc) - slow and ghosting display (at least FHD version) What I like: - Good quality case - obviously good cooling system with two fans, three heat pipes - still supporting USB A - non glare display, bright and 100% rbg Currently the price in GER is about 1500 EUR for FHD + MX150 version, 1100 EUR for base version. I decided to wait until IFA 2019 and hope there are some further options. And now there is announced the reworked Stealth. I appreaciate, Razer was obviously thinking about users feedback. - They will deliver the nvidia versions with a 100W power supply, that should provide enough power during load and should also be able to charge the battery at the same time. - Great graphics performance with the new nvidia 1650 for a 13.3 inch laptop - I heard nothing about coilwhining so far, lets wait for the tests. - Also a ghosting display was not mentioned in first hand on reviews, but also here I will wait for the tests. - BUT: The price. 2000 EUR for the mid model (FHD + nvidia GPU)! Yes, I have the money to buy it, but I do not want to. There are introduced some similar models on the IFA (ok, not 13.3 inch, but 14), those have a similar hardware setup for much less price. I hope Razer is thinking a bit about the price. I do not understand. They would sell much more laptops with a better price politics. Quality may cost more, but should not be impertinent.

Try to make it one, it may confuse CS and may make your case longer.

Stealth MX150 was also €1700 i think, but if you’re thinking price performance maybe it’ll be difficult decision i always put the priority on an ultrabook the portability, battery life over performance that what I was paying for, always thinking MacBook Pro 13 around same price but you get better hardware and ports. There’re some brands that trying to compete with Blade, with thinner or lighter cassis marketing, but the hardware failed even not in a year. For example on around same release maxq 1070 thin light 15 inch laptops, the less issues I find only on more expensive Blade, other are starting to show hardware failure like defect fan, rgb keyboard, gpu, some are even already run hot out of the box. I was doing things with other brands users who are using thin light gaming laptop and often visiting their forum, so I think I know a bit this category issue. I saw even also users who go back again to Blade after using those brands.

Jep. Das schaut sehr gut aus. Hätte ich mal besser ein paar Monate gewartet. Das Setting lohnt sich mehr als das das aktuelle. Schade aber so ist es eben. Bin ja so dennoch sehr zufrieden mit meinem Stealth. Wenn ich mir in 1-2 Jahren ein neues hole, sollte ja auch schon quasi eine RTX 2070 möglich sein. Jep. It looks very good. I’m confirming now about Thunderbolt ports that’s stated 2, it’s nice if it’s true though. Jep. It looks very good. I would have waited a few months. The setting is worth more than the current one. But it's a pity. I'm still very happy with my stealth. If I get a new one in 1-2 years, an RTX 2070 should be possible.

You’re good with MX150, it’s still between iris plus and 1650maxq performance as mentioned on article above with better price for performance rate I believe. And yes in 2 years you can maybe getting rtx2070 performance in MacBook 12 size laptop lol since every year manufacturer squeezing the form factor and adding more power, quite exciting to see the improvement of cooling system in every laptops gen though.

Oof, I'm surprised by how low the performance is on this new 25W CPU. I was expecting a big leap forward. I wonder what kinds of power limits are at play, and if that's what's holding it back. Clearly the laptop is staying very cool, which means that it isn't getting all of the power it could be. Considering that the graphics model is limited to 15W, it's going to be even less powerful and not going to make a great pairing with an eGPU. Makes it pretty unappealing in my opinion, unless someone only wants to use it with the 1650.

Yes you’re right, from frequency clock average on gaming it shows lower, i think 1065 cpu can hold 3,5ghz all cores, however it’s on early stage bios or Synapse update may change it and actually It can be removed. On 8550U 2017 one with power limit removed it comes with extra 20 degrees heat on Firestrike bumping from 70ish to 90ish which I don’t like. But from that icelake gaming temperature it has theoretically still temperature head room, I think from cinebench r15 it should add another 200cb @ max frequency, since 8550U stealth on default power limit was 450 and without was 650. So 10657g icelake should perform better. I don’t have the cinebench screenshot but here’s Firestrike comparison between those two in my egpu setting. Default vs pl removed Note that the tweak has some risks, it’s for advanced I think.

I still feel they need a generation to iron out the stealth. The 1650 model seems alright. Expensive. Too close to the Blade 15 in price for my blood. But, if portability is everything to you then I get it. I'd really like to see 120hz screens for ultrabooks since they seem to be pushing them as gaming devices now. Then I'd say they were worth the cost.

Just wanted to drop a note in here now that I've had my Razer Blade Stealth (1650) for a couple weeks. Note, I've owned and have had gripes about various Razer laptops over the years, so fwiw I'm not what you'd consider a Razer fanboi. Each time I've ended selling them and moving to something else that felt like... less of a compromise. Not this time. With the sole exception of that right-shift key / arrow arrangement, this laptop is damn near perfect for my needs. Super portable, plenty of power, long battery life, great screen (although 120hz would be welcome), etc. Very good keyboard and trackpad. Never gets too hot or noisy. Frankly, I love it. Even the little things add up to a great experience. The weight and feel as I carry it. The fact that the rubber bumpers on the bottom are sized differently (tho I'm sure this was for positioning) help me identify front vs rear by touch when I prepare to set it down. One finger lid opens. Powered usb-c on both sides. I could go on... TL;DR I love my RBS 1650 and am grateful to see Razer finally incorporate years of user feedback into this design. Happy customer here.

I use it for my own "personal business" activities (I run some tech events on the side) as well as any sort of personal use while away from the house. Basically, anything that's personal when I'm not sitting at my home office desk.
