Razer Kraken Ultimate sound quality issues (muffled?)

Hi all, I'm hoping to get some troubleshooting tips for this issue im having. I recently purchase a Kraken Ultimate (i previously owned the kraken headset which i thought was amazing). This ultimate version is supposed to be better but so far im extremely underwhelmed. The sound quality sounds awful. I've tried messing around with bass boost, EQ settings etc.. but cant seem to fix the issue It just sound very muffled, especially when playing games. It sounds like the characters are far away. Is this a commonly known issue for this headset? anyone any ideas how to fix this? Much appreciated!
