Some functions not saving to on-board profile

I got a Razer Naga Pro wireless mouse and I'm trying to assign certain functions to the side buttons. Among them are volume up/down and mute. I've assigned the functions and also saved them to the on-board profile. They all work fine when I use them while Synapse is running. But if I exit Synapse, the volume and mute buttons stop working. All the other assigned functions still work no matter which button I assign them to. But the volume commands seem to only work if I have Synapse running in the background. Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
