Razer Kiyo Stopped Working - Unrecognised USB Device

My Razer Kiyo webcam recently stopped working while streaming and now appears in Device Manager as “Unrecognised USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”. It suddenly turned off during use and hasn’t worked since. When I unplug and reconnect it, it briefly recognises the device as a Razer Kiyo, but when I try to use it, nothing happens and it disconnects again and reverts to showing as an unrecognised USB device.

What I’ve tried so far without success:

  • Uninstalling the drivers
  • Updating the firmware
  • Testing it on a different computer

I’ve seen others report similar issues but haven’t found a solution yet. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it dead and time for the bin. Fair to say I won’t be purchasing another one.

I’ve just noticed when you do try and use it the little light on the front illuminates but the device makes a quiet electrical crackle noise so it’s going straight in the bin. What a load of rubbish.

I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve tried repairing the software, unplugging the device both at the back of the camera, then again at the USB port, no change. Synapse refuses to detect it, and Teams says “your device is in use”.

This is a great camera - when it works - but I’ve had nothing but problems with the connectivity since I bought it. I need it for work and it’s never been reliable. It’s very frustrating launching a client meeting only to find I’m booted back to my awful laptop camera because the Kiyo is playing up (again).

Razer can we please get a fix for this issue asap?
