Razer Blade Advanced OLED doesn't seem to support HDR gaming on the laptop display
I posted about this on the r/Razer subreddit last night, but I figured I'd post here about this as well. I have been in contact with a support person that monitors the subreddit, but didn't know if this forum was a better avenue to either getting an answer or solving this issue.
I received my Razer Blade Advanced with the 4K OLED panel a few days ago. I finally got a chance to test with some games last night and found that gaming in HDR doesn't seem to be supported using the laptop's display even though it's OLED and DisplayHDR certified. Windows 10 recognizes the display as Wide Color Gamut, HDR gaming, and HDR video streaming capable. There is a toggle to turn on HDR for "Games and apps" in the Windows 10 settings, however with that toggle on no games will let you enable HDR in their in game menus. Sekiro, Resident Evil 2, and No Man's Sky (with the Vulkan beta update that added HDR support) all either have the option in game to enable HDR grayed out or in the case of No Man's Sky the option doesn't show at all in the menus because it doesn't think that it can detect a HDR display. HDR video streaming does work and looks amazing.
I have a few questions. First is this intended behavior? If it's not, is it something that can be fixed via a driver update or in some other way? One of the reasons I bought this laptop is that I game on an OLED tv at home, love the way HDR looks, and wanted to setup something similar that is portable. Don't get me wrong, the OLED panel is gorgeous regardless, but I'm hoping there is a way to use proper HDR gaming support on it.
