Razer Blackwidow Elite Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Custom Keycaps Support

Switches are standard, they're using cherry MX style stem ("+" or box "[+]"). But with BlackWidow Elite, not every set will fit, because it has different bottom row size (keys like CTRL, ALT, Win etc) has different size, than standard. So you have to search for a dedicated Razer compatible set or have 2 different sets (razer original at bottom row and custom for other keys).

Sure you can - for eg. wraping it different color or spraying it. You can buy different braided or coiled cables, but in both ways you'll loose your warranty (if you have any). There are a lot of ways to mod your keyboard.

I see. Thank you! I'd personally rather refrain from modding which will null my warranty. It looks fine as is for now. Regarding the keycaps, I've pulled one out from the bottom row (e.g. arrow keys, left ctrl) and normal rows (e.g. esc key and scroll lock). They seem to be the same with + shape. I also learn that someone else posts on another forum mentioning thoccy-ness of a keyboard can be affected several ways, but one of them is to get another keycaps that are heavier. I wonder if I can go with heavier key or is that going to affect the actuation since it's only, iirc, 45 grams. I also heard that adding a foam inside the keyboard can dampen the sound and make it more subtle thocc. I looked up a foam on amazon, and wonder if that sort of modification is okay with this keyboard. I saw one guy opening up Razer Blackwidow Elite (no clue which year), but behind the board, there's several micro controller and stuff. I wonder if adding foam like this will make it over heat or some other bad stuff.

PCB doesn't heat so much, so it'll be fine to add a sound dampening foam inside. But still - if you have active warranty, any inside ingeration will void it. For the keycaps - if you'll go with heavier keycaps, the keys will require less force to actuate.

Thanks for the warning and the info. I don't think I'll be replacing the keycaps then since the current one is already super easy to press that sometimes when resting my finger, it actually registers as press down and hold spamming the key

Hello, I'm back here again. I'm thinking of getting dampening foam to stuff inside the keyboard, but I wonder if there's already one inside for Razer Blackwidow Elite Yellow Switch. Also, anybody has tips on what kind of foam should I get in case that can affect the sound? I wonder if this can reduce the ping noise as well as make it slightly more thoccy. I also tried finding some tips for easy mod for this specific keyboard, but I couldn't quite find it.

No, there's no dampening inside BW Elite.

Hello again, I've got another question. Is there any screws hidden beneath the rubber feet? I'm reluctant to pry them open if there's nothing below since that would just damage the feet...

Yes, there are 2 screws under the rubber feets (probably upper rubber feets).
