2020 Razer Blade 17 Pro question for those who upgrade 2nd SSD
Hi I've been hunting the internet for an answer to this question. I think anyone who has opened their 2020 Blade 17 should be able to answer this also. Inside the machine where you slot in the second SSD on the left side there is a firmly glued foam pad resting on the motherboard. That pad is supposed to stay there right? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere else. Most videos I find are of the 2019 version which dont have that pad.

I saw videos from mobiletech review and gizmoslip tech kind odd if you use it so, is it detach able? If it’s cooling pad you should put it on ssd not under to dissipate heat to cassis if it thick enough. For some nvme that runs hot it might improve the heat a lot like minus 30 degrees under reading.
It's seems like it's not removable. The glue is very... It seems like it's not intended to be removed. The foam pad has very little give. It doesn't move a lot. It's very stiff. I think it might be a heat pad I just wanted to be sure.
Yea the review on MobileTechReview shows it when she details there is a second SSD slot. Now one really talks about it though. I'm going to try and screw it in gently. I'm a little afraid to take out the main slot and see if there is a pad there.

An update. Yes. LEAVE THE FOAM PADDING ON.
It's actually super scary. The SSD bows a little when you screw it in. There is also padding in the lid that pushed it down. I screwed it in. Cried a little at potentially breaking a 400 SSD or 3000 dollar laptop. But everything turned out fine!
I removed it...actually popped right off easily for me. I didn't see one under the other SSD, so I assumed it was just a case stiffener/dampener or something. Bowing a populated PCB doesn't sound like a good thing to do.

Oh no! The plot thickens!
It's been working fine so far. I see what youre saying though. It connects to keep the case stiff at that spot if something isnt there
Alright. I went in there in took it out. Lets see what happens in a few weeks years whatever when this thing runs hot for a few hours of intense gaming. Since I did this I havent been playing it so it should be fiiiiiine.
