Meet the new Razer Tiamat V2 Headsets

The world’s first true surround gaming headset returns, better than ever, and of course with that new sexy Razer Chroma lighting.

The new Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 analog gaming headset sports 5 discrete drivers on each ear cup to deliver a robust true surround sound experience with unparalleled precision. Technically sound (heh), the sorcery is enhanced through its accompanying Audio Control Unit that lets you fine-tune audio settings for each driver. Master the battlefield by defining the soundstage, take victory through sheer audio advantage.

PC enthusiasts rejoice — there’s no need to choose between a Razer Leviathan speaker setup or a headset configuration. The Audio Control Unit doubles up as an audio pass through to allow quick switching between headset and your external speakers.

Hardcore gaming audio, accompanied with matching ergonomics - we’ve redesigned the headband to double up on comfort and fully accommodate your most intense and lengthy battles.

Available alongside the true 7.1 headset is the new Razer Tiamat 2.2 V2. That’s a lot of 2s. 2 discrete subwoofers, 2 custom-tuned audio drivers. Take that bass response up a couple of notches and hear your games rumble to life. Punch up your audio experience anywhere, whether you’re on PC, consoles or mobile.

Epic Sound, Epic Bass.

So with this headset, if my laptop doesn't have the necessary inputs, can I use an external usb sound card like the Creative Sound Blasterx G5 to get the full 7.1 surround sound effect?

I think yes. I am currently using my Razer Tiamat 7.1V2 with my Lenovo Legion Y520 with a soundcard 5.1 (claimed to support 7.1 by seller) I bought from Shopee because I couldn't find any 7.1 ones. From my callibration using the Synapse 2.0 software, I indeed experience surround sound.

anyone here owned both the tiamat 7.1 older version, and this current version?

my question .... has the sound improved at all, on the latest version of the tiamat 7.1 v2?

my experience with the older gen, it did not sound any better than my kraken v2's

I doubt it. Even if they used larger speakers, the sound would be marginally better at best. They aren't gonna use any kind of special headphone technology in a $200 pair of headphone

I am not sure about the old one as I used the new one directly. Personally I think it is good with external sound card and Razer synapse but without them, it is just sound like another headphone with plenty of buzzing problems for entry level laptops. Piece of advice from me, buy this headphone only if your laptop support analog 7.1 surround sound or only if you use it on a desktop. However, I like this headphone's design and size, It is super comfortable when you wear it, by far the best comfortable headphone after Hyper X.

It's impossible to drive an analog 7.1 headset with a sound card if it doesn't have the necessary outputs.

Thanks for replying sir. Oh i see, sorry I have not enough knowledge on that my bad, will learn more over time. Sir, do you know is Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 is geared towards desktop and what motherboard supports it (how to know if the motherboard supports it?)

I owned one. But there is a problem. Entry level laptops such as Lenovo Y520 can't support Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2. So in order to use it I bought an external sound card. But it became bulky and not mobile. I hope Razer optimize Razer Synapse to support entry level laptop sound card if possible or give more details on the support of their peripherals on the box and on the websites they sell their peripherals.

Looks nice! But I won't have a conclusion until I tested myself.

Hi! Which one do you have? 2.2 or 7.1? I have the 7.1 and in fact, I have to manually adapt the mic sensibility for each of my games! Also, do you have any noise cancelling thing on your sound card?

hi,
I have problem with mic, it picks up sound from speakers, so when playing games with friends, they can hear me shooting, or if I watch youtube video they can hear what im listening.
I have asus phoebus sound card.

What kind of sound card do you have?

I have a 7.1 onboard sound card. By the way I forgot to update, it has something to do with the settings, managed to fix it!

Just received it yesterday after many months of consideration.. Tested it, but in 7.1 mode, the bass is totally non existent, and also, very disappointing that such a pricey headset is not supported in Synapse 3.0 yet.

Anyone solved the bass issue??

look nice !
but not loving price
Which audio receiver actually accepts 7.1 inputs from the razer or the computer though. I just need the receiver, I have all the speakers.
From Razer support I see some sound cards are compatible for the full 7.1 experience while others are limited to 5.1. I know most of the Creative Sound cards are limited to 5.1 but I was wondering if this was true for the new Sound BlasterX AE-5? Do I still have to go with ASUS if I want 7.1?
