Razer Thresher Tournament Edition - Sound Quality Issues

I have the Razer Thresher Tournament Edition that I use with my xbox. For the past few months now, I've noticed an issue with the sound quality of the headset, and the issue is getting progressively worse. When I put the headset on and connect the 3.5mm audio + mic jack into my xbox controller, I can hear the audio come through the speakers. The issue though, is the audio will sometimes only play through one side of the headphones. Sometimes one side doesn't get any audio, sometimes it's just quieter than the opposite side. I have noticed that I can affect this by adjusting the volume control wheel on the in-line control. I basically have to fiddle with the volume control wheel and find the perfect spot in order for the audio to play properly through both sides of the headset. If the volume control wheel gets moved by even a fraction of a centimetre, the audio will get messed up. This is extremely inconvenient when playing games such as Call of Duty, where spatial audio is very important. Can I just get a new in-line control wire to fix this, or is the root of the issue deeper than that?
