Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any help and support.
I am an engineering student looking to buy a Razer Laptop. A couple of my friends have them and they work great.
There are a few on Craigslist that I am looking at. They are various models so at this point I dont want to flood the thread with the details.
Is there anything I should do to test the laptop to ensure all things work?
Is there a way to cross reference the serial number to ensure its not stolen or had issues?
I am told by one of the owners that the laptop comes preloaded with Windows and software. I am skeptical of this as they will not be registered in my name.
I would like to completely erase and reformat the device to ensure a clean install of Windows, etc. But the owner says it does not come with disks, etc.
If I were to reformat the laptop, where would I download or get the device drivers.
I am not sure if I covered everything here, but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks again all,
Micon2

Yes, battery test, check the screen for dead pixels, hot pixels, any damage etc. Do a stress test (both CPU and GPU for example via Furmark) for overheating and artifacts.

It doesn't matter. OS is bound to hardware, not person.
If you don't have disk - buy a new one. You can easily download Windows 10 from microsoft site, and install on new disk. OS will activate automatically (serial number is bound on the motherboard). All drivers are publicly available, and most of them are installed via Windows 10.
Thank you for your response. I appreciate the info.
I am told by an owner that the laptop is under warranty but its in his name. He also stated that Razer does not transfer the warranty to a new owner and that the laptop will have to stay in his name.
Is this true?
Thanks again.

Yes it’s.
Which Blade is it btw, there’re 3 Blade type. For gaming machine I would personally only recommend the refurbished one from Razer, since it’s tested and has new battery, but if the price is right and has rest guarantee maybe used one also fine especially if you can get in touch with seller once you’ve issue to process the guarantee, keep in mind if you’ve bad luck and should repair it, repair cost without guarantee may quite be expensive.
First start to ask seller that send you product namber to verify. Next chack battery sha[e and hard drive status if have any bad sectors it common on long time use, Look at nootebook there are scrach or any other demage if everything is fine and price is good for you should dont have any issue. But be aware that sometime issues on used hardwere can appear over time and you dont chack everything in few minutes or hour.
Thank you all for your input and suggestions.
