I was told that for general use of laptop, it should be below 63 C, and as for gaming, below 85 C. Can anyone confirm this?
Thank you.

i did some testing on my new razer laptop, and i have noticed, while my laptop is being idle, it tend to jump back and forth from 58 c to 65 c. When it come to gaming, it jump from 74 c to 89 c. the highest I can seen it was at 90 c.
I was told by the technician, by Razer, that its running perfectly normal. I just hope they're not doing it on purchase so they can get the case done faster since I am getting a little different results by three different Razer's representatives.

You can always undervolt CPU/GPU, to have some extra battery life, and less heating.
And repaste the CPU/GPU with some better thermal paste (but it would void your warranty).

Nope it dosent if he dont demage the parts in thermal paste replace next thing is no metal liqid this paste can end warranty normal paste like cryonout or others dont do anything to warraty time.

Don’t worry it’s normal, other thin light laptops are even worse, Alienware m15 r1 out of box playing Witcher 3 is 99, r2 99 (cpu temperature) and their CS says it’s normal LoL. However this’s the character of this 6 cores H cpu, on default depends on how cpu intensive the game, it may spike to 90ish areas. But you can avoid that like other users mentioned above, undervolting the cpu or repasting if you’re familiar with those things. If not you can limiting the performance by using balanced mode and increase the Fans rpm and the Blade bottom area for better cooling. Ah I’m not Razer representative but hope that can help you seek the answer.

It really depends on the manufacturer :)
I saw few manufacturers, that applies a warranty sticker on the screw, so you cannot repaste it if you want to have warranty.
For example in Dell you won't void warranty, until you damage some parts when doing repasting, as you wrote.
I recommend Thermal grizzly kryonaut - very good paste, hard to apply, and expensive, but worth it.

Hmm... Interesting
I Think it's normal. While Gaming 85*C is good but if it reaches like 95, that's where it starts to get serious. Solution don't play games you can't run with atleast 40FPS. If you play like on 25-30 FPS then your temps are destined to be like 95+ .
Agreed, 95 degrees should be the limit for your cpu. Even 90 for long periods of time can damage your cpu. However, it really does depend on the model of your laptop/cpu you have. If your laptop gets damaged under normal use (without overclocking), im sure it will be covered by the warranty.

Yeap on low and middle range laptops or high price specific workstation yes this can happend but on 90% gaming laptops manufacture dont have any issue you can open it and repaste it, The only thing is when you demage the laptop or parts you avoid the warranty becose it's not autorized support repair if nothing happend you dont lose anything . There are few limitations like LM that you can remove it without sotter and if you mess with repatte it it can make short and burn cpu or gpu. I have before Asus, Alienware and dont have any issue with opening it and cleaning also MSI and thoshiba dont have.
