Less likely if, more likely when...

RAZER decides to do a monitor: we know it will be rather expensive. Razer tends to go all out for us and we pay a premium for that. Please no complaining about price on this thread. Let the market handle that on its own.

So, features. I have a list of requests. Lets see if they align with other gamers on the planet.


  • High refresh rate. 120 Hz or better.
  • nVidia G sync. This as opposed to AMD Freesync. nVidia cards are blowing away the competition and have been for some years now. Choice in compatibility standards should reflect that.
  • Some type of anti-glare
  • Some type of high detail black. You need to be able to see and diayinguish between levels of dark grey and black. I grew up playing games that really emphasized light, dark, shadows, etc. You gotta be able to see every detail.
  • Broad color spectrum
  • Curved screen
  • 4k
  • Design that enables easy multi-monitor configurations. Difficult with a curved screen, but perhaps increases immersion.
  • Hard, high quality screen. Possibly touch. I even like the idea of incorporating the IGZO screen from the Rzr phone and the blade.
  • Chroma. Somebody would have said this if I didnt.
  • Size... ok... this is the dealbreaker for me. Monitors under 30 inches are available but really dont have the same level of immersion as the larger monitors. How about 34 inches or better.
  • 1ms response time
  • Cinematic aspect ratio


Thats the best concept I could come up with without drawing it out myself. The best bet would be to do better than the Alienware monitor that is comparable to these specs and make it more marketable toward the Razer base. Ya know, high quality, good warranty, chroma, black on black, etc.

Tell me what you guys think. If this horse has been beaten to death, let me know. Otherwise I'll loom forward to your comments and a future full of I-told-ya-so.

That would be sweet!, but a very small market and it'd cost about $2500 (based on the Asus/Acer equivalents out now). And you'd need the 2080 TI to take advantage of it. Can you do 1ms (a TN panel) with a broad color spectrum (like IPS)? I didn't think you can yet. Razer's current monitor has weird specs, a 27" 1080p screen...and it was overpriced so it didn't sell well. But hopefully they'll try it again.:smile_:

They could use the same panel found in the 34" Gsync 120hz alienware monitor. It's been well received.

I don't think we will be seeing a 1ms display without compromising on the color spectrum. I'm also guessing that we could be seeing a 144Hz display with IGZO IPS (if this is even possible) alongside THX Certification.

If they really want to make this interesting, they could come up with a unique 3-in-1 monitor similar to Project Valerie but in the form of a stand-alone monitor instead of a Laptop. Thinking about it now, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was Razer's Project for CES 2019 or CES 2020.

I would say it is simple. Just release a 144hz Gsync edition and Freesync edition with back chroma lighting, no need curved ones first just to be sure it can really sell well. There are not many people who want curved monitor for immersed gaming, including famous csgo players (is a female, I forgot what is her name already) and casual competitive gamers including me, it looks weird when gaming. Furthermore, making a curved monitor will cost more and many people aren't really willing to buy pricey curved monitors. If Razer can make a chroma back lighting monitor with the specs above, if the price is competitive with other brand monitors, and enough stock distributed to physical stores, I am definitely sure it would beat the crap out of other brands and sell really really well.

They would have my money day one if they released something like that. But from a business standpoint it may make more sense releasing a traditional monitor to start, rather than something wild and expensive. Most people will not have room for a monitor that wide. And even though it would be able to fold into a single monitor to conserve space, you would still be paying for 3 monitors, thus turning away potential buyers.

I just hope the lenovo partnership did not sour monitors for razer. The lenovo monitor was just bad all around. Razer can do a lot better in house.

Oh and chroma enabled with synapse integration of course), 2x display ports ( one supporting G-sync, the other supporting Freesync, this will be their "Razer First feature" sort of like how the 120hz display was for the razer phone) 2x HDMI ports, and finally a USB passthrough. Price it at $999.

If it's successful then it will be time to branch out into more expensive territory. High refresh 4k monitors, 3 in 1's, etc

Here is the amazon link to the monitor, used to be a link on lenovo's site too but I can't seem to find it anymore. Pretty sure the monitor may have been out of production for a while now.

The gsync and free sync in one would give them something to seperate from the competition and allow marketing to plaster "world first" all over the place. As for refresh rate, I say 120hz "+" as in the minimum. I would prefer 165hz as that's what the competition has. Asus, acer, etc.

When I come to think of it, true indeed, if the price is still very competitive, it will be very popular as buyers can switch to whenever mode they want depends on their gpu, Nvidia or AMD, good for long term usage as users can switch gpu without switching monitor while preventing screen tearing, it makes the monitor a killer product! woah!

AMD or nVidia, probably both, would have some type of clause that would prohibit both of their technologies from being used in the same device. If I'm not mistaken, it's called a non-compete agreement.

I am biased toward Intel and nVidia v. AMD.

Absolutely correct, it would have been done by now. Probably a licensing issue vs. technical.

I share the same bias by the way 🙂

Specs wise I was off. Rather, I'd say, RZR left something to be desired.

Timing-wise, I'm pretty outstanding obviously. CES was a big clue something was about to pop off.

damn!!! when our wishlist is granted but the spec left us with wondering..
in SGD It will cost about 900 plus maybe but i was thinking if it was about 500 plus i dont mind paying for that monitor that match with my eco system... you know RAZER ADULT TOYS..

I think esports is a good theme for Razer. Good business move, especially for a company that does so much business in asia.

But being the cold-blooded, 'merican cowboy that I am, I'd have to say I'm holding out for a BFGD.
