For over 10 years I've been a loyal customer and user of Razer products, I've always been happy with their services and product quality until this moment.



5 february 2017 I bought my Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2 with orange switches. I was happy with this keyboard until a couple of months ago. The keyboard started to have mechanical issues with some keys I do not use very often such as "c" "j" "u" "," etc...

I contacted support yesterday and they kept telling me that they couldn't help me out since the product's warranty has expired.



Honestly, I feel disappointed since the "high-quality" keyboard costs $200 and it starts to fail immediatly after the warranty expired. Razer shouldn't expect there customers to pay $200 for a keyboard every 2 years, this is ridiculous customer relationship management!

They don't register everytime I press them, its like the switches don't respond correctly. For example when I press "U", the key doesn't show up and I have to press it twice or sometimes even more until it showes up. Also somtimes it registers double the key instead of just once.

Are the keys any harder / easier to press? Basically do they feel or sounds different than all the other keys?

Have you taken the key caps off and seen if there is any visible problems?

They don't feel a lot different when pressing, maybe a bit and yes I have taken off the caps and I don't see any visibile problems compared to the other keys. I had a chat with the support and we definitely came to the conclusion that it was a hardware problem and my keys are just broken.

hello, the truth is every electronic hardware comes up with an expiry date after which it does not work. And then we have to upgrade, this is the case with any manufacturer. :frown_:



And yes, the timeline is different for the various manufacturers which is another fact. So it all comes down to us, as to which one to select and use and so on.



So we just have to get a new one to get the work done.

I don't really agree with you. Razer has a high product quality brand name and therefore if you buy a $200 keyboard you expect it to last longer than others. I had another keyboard before and this lasted forever and now I buy a "high quality" product and it breaks after 2.5 years which is very sad and disappointing.

I have been using my Blackwidow Stealth 2014 for last 5 years, and except for some loose keys which got replaced with new sets of keys, it works perfectly.



Things break or don't work for a reason. I see many gamers action "Rage smash" on their keyboard when they can't admit defeat, or spilling drinks or food on their keyboard.



Don't want to dive into software side of the issue, but if the OS is compromised via high magnitude virus or poor registry, the driver re-installation will not resolve the issue.



With mechanical issues, the mechanical switch contacting the board might be loose. In which the expired warranty will not be able to cover the replacement.

Ive had my Blackwidow v2 since it came out and it still works perfectly. And i use it everyday for between 4 - 16 hours, if not more sometimes. I bought my cousin the original Blackwidow about 6 months after it came out and it still works perfectly to this day.

Razer products work well... Unless you're an idiot with them.

I like how everything is being put as my fault, I'm a perfectly normal gamer, I do not "rage smash" my keyboard ever. I do not eat nor drink at my keyboard. I keep it clean, I clean it often and don't do stupid shit with it. I like the fact that you are trying to protect Razer's quality but in this case it failed hard. Its not a software issue since I tested it on multiple computers. The keyboard started failing after 2.5 years and hasn't been used any different from other keyboards I've been using for over 10 years.

Seems like Razer products do not work like everyone expects them to work.

Maybe you got a defective one. no one else except a few seem to have a problem...
If you've only had 1 problem in 10 years with any brand that's great. Especially since you still got 2.5 years out of it which is decent. All brands have duds, that's just how manufacturing works.
