Yellow VS Orange Switches

So I want to buy a Black Widow Elite but I don't know if to choose yellow or orange. since I have never touched mechanical orange tactile and liner yellow, I have no clue. I plan to use this keyboard for typing a lot and gaming but I don't want it to be laud(hence the reason I don't like greens) So I'm hoping you guys can tell me what scenarios are best for these two switches and which would recommend for my case

I use Razer yellows on a BW TE Chroma. I have the BW Elite too with Razer greens but it's too loud for me and the key travel is longer than I'm used to. My rationale for the yellows was moving from a gaming laptop, where key travel is short, the yellows would be the easiest transition. If you are typing a lot, you may enjoy the tactile nature of the oranges. I prefer the shorter travel of the yellows for both.

I want to know other opinions because I heard that yellows are awkward to type on. I don't know how true that is. about the razor store, there are none near me and the ones that have razer products only have greens. thanks for the thought doe

The only difference between them is the clicky or not course. It's really a personal feelings. When coming from a membrane keyboard it's a bit ankward at first to feel this click. Some get used to and can never return to linear, others won't. I suggest you to search around if any sellers have some demo switches. Even not razer ones.

From what i found the close switch to yellow is mx speed so if you really want serch store with this and cheack it you will have comparision between green and yellow. For sure if you want good expiriance that i can recommend you look at orange and yellow becose of the stabilizers key dont wiggle and it's not anoing.

I moved from a membrane keyboard (cynosa pro) to the blackwidow elite ( green switch) and i have to say i really loved it because of the response and the tactile clicks. The move from membrane to a mechanical green switch was what i wanted for while playing FPS games and typing (its so satisfying). About the yellow and orange keys, its all about your personal preferences as to whether you need a green (tactile n clicky) / Orange (tactile n silent) / Yellow ( linear / silent) keys.

I haven't had the chance to try a yellow switch yet, but I really want to!! I had been using the orange switches for years because I don't like noisy switches, so I hated the sound of the greens. As of right now, since I can't compare the yellows, I've ditched my oranges in favor of the purple! Yes, there is some sound with them, but not even half as bad as the greens, and I absolutely fell in love with the feel of them. I have the Huntsman Elite keyboard and to pair with my laptop I'm also buying the Huntsman in quartz pink. (I have the quartz pink Razer Blade Stealth) So, bottom line: my favorite switch is the purple - and I'm just dying to try the yellow to see if I'd like it better than oranges. Excluding yellows since I haven't used them, my order of preference is: Purple, Orange, Green.

A bit off topic but i heard that purple switches make almost the same noise than green, did you really heard a big difference ?

I have a green switch keyboard and soon to be two purple switch keyboards. The purple does have more sound than the orange switches, but I don't feel that it's as bad as the green. I'm usually dead set on silent only, but the purple just felt so good that I'm willing to put up with some click noise. It's a different sound than the green switch, I find it less annoying.

Haha! I bet there are some folks here who would consider that sacrilege! :)

Before I started working here, I was gaming on a mac keyboard. I know, absolutely zero PC gamer cred. Hipster gaming at its finest. I quickly fell into a shame spiral. I was so used to using chiclet membrane keys that I never even considered mechanical keys. I was like, "what is this archaic analog clackity crap!?" But then I was introduced to the green switches. It felt so...good - like in a weird typey way; satisfying. But then my friends would be like your keys are too damn loud over comms. I'm on oranges now and I haven't looked back. Yellows/Linears feel gross [to me], but if you bottom out your keys and clack the ish out of them, then you might like them. My brain needs the bumpy feedback. If you brush your keys and type at super sonic speed, then you might want to consider the Huntsman. My sausage fingers absolutely destroy any semblance of grace when I type so using the Huntsman doesn't work well for me. So I'll ask you the questions I ask everyone else when they ask me this question, "How do you type? Do you bottom out your keys or do you brush them? Are you an expert typist or are you a brute like me and smash keys hoping to make words?"

Thanks for the "user" answer, it's way more probing than "pro" ones.

I wonder if this is why it feels to nice to me. I type anywhere between 80-110 wpm depending on what I'm working on and how many non-letter keys I'm using, so I love flying over they keyboard and feeling the love from the purple switches on the Huntsman. hehehe

Oh thank you this helps a lot. I think I will be going with oranges after all. I found that the oranges are the sweet spot between gaming and typing so I will go with that choice. I kinda like green too but I don't want to be that guy in the discord that is (click click click click....) when playing games. thanks for the thoughtful comment :D
