With the recent launch of the Acari, many of us internally here at Razer had a good go around about which mat surface is better; hard or soft? I'm still waiting on my Acari to come in, but I'm super excited for it. I prefer hard mats because I suffer from lazy arm which often leads to slow reactions or under-aiming and having a hard mat helps due to its less friction-y surface. Which side are you on and why do you prefer the surface that you do? current using Razer Firefly V2 and I am pretty happy for it, the RGB so satisfies and the size is just fit for my tiny desk. I also have GOLIATHUS SPEED (small size) previously, it is also very good quality as well. It is too bad that my room could not fit those extra-large size mouse mat for a much better experience.

I'm gonna go with hard cause i already have it, but soft isnt that bad either. Probably better for wider hand moves and a lot more comfortable.

The soft surface gives the best feeling when your hand rests on the mouse mat. But it has much resistance when shifting the mouse. Hard surface, on the other hand, will be much smoother, but only benefit in FPS shooting game. When you playing RPGs game may not be as good as you thought.

Currently have firefly cloth edition and its really comfy and looks good too

I prefer soft for casual mousing, hard for gaming

To each his own, I have both but I prefer a soft/cloth mat. Depending on the game, I switch them.

I have the hard mouse mat, though my first preference is soft mouse mat for office work and RPG. For FPS i prefer the hard mouse mat.

Isn't a soft pad just more comfy?

I've never tried a hard mat. Even the Vespula V2 costs 50% more than what my Deathadder 2013 cost :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:

For sure I will pick always soft surface.

I personally like the softer surface because I have heavy arms and I let my wrist and forearm just lay on the beginning of the mat with mouse in hand, and with a medium all the way to a harder slicker mat it starts hurting and sending pains in my wrist and arm within 5 to tens minutes then for the rest of the time I remain on the computer with the mouse in my hand it continues to hurt getting worse and worse, and honestly it is a huge waste of time, a huge distraction, and it can become significantly painful, so I need to get me a way softer mat, but if not for the pain and the annoyance and distraction the slicker, harder, and faster mats cause me and my wrist/arm, except for that and if not for that, I would use the slicker, harder, and faster mats because I feel they are the leading/top tier of all or overall mats ranked, at least that is my opinion on the matter!!!

Having tried both I'd say I'm waaay more comfortable with my Goliathus Chroma. It's not even a contest! The Sphex V.2 is a great hard mat of fantastic quality and also it's crazy affordable but my bony hands (1.90, 79kg) can't take an unyielding hard mat for long periods of gaming. Plus, I don't play competitively so I don't worry about not having the gaming advantage offered by a hard mat.

Hard is the way for gaming surface for me. Maybe soft for office work. Though soft sucks up more dirt, oil, and moisture.

would not be a idea to make a poll? I pick both

MMmmm well, I'm a dummie and i don't understand the difference between soft and hard mouse pad. But If soft is the ones with the anime boobs , then I definitely prefer hard mouse pad.

Hello friends My personal favorite mouse mat is Soft, Large, Customizable, No RGB. Because a soft mouse mat is easier to transport and lighter, it adapts perfectly to your desk. You should also know that too much RGB kills the RGB, I only use for the mouse, keyboard and headset. To highlight the RGB of the mouse, the mouse mat must be better like the background of a photograph.

Like many others, I think that hard is dedicated for gaming or intensive use. For those like myself that are spending many hours a day on a PC but just oneor 2 hours on games, the comfortness of the soft ones are the best.

I thought about it, but I like conversations. Also, the conversations enter you into the weekly drawing :wink_:
