Hey all, I hope this is the right place to post, if not a little nudge in the right direction would be great.
So I got the razer phone for Christmas but I've been unable to get audio to play through my car stereo. I can sync the phone to the radio, and I'm sure to receive calls and talk through the system, but it absolutely refuses to play music through the car, instead opting to use the phone speakers.
I've set the Bluetooth to play audio through selected device, but that's about all I can think of.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks

Even today, bluetooth as a standard isn't very well implemented. My car (using a 2009 era alpine iva-w505 with add on bluetooth module) plays music fine, but has issues with understanding voice. The only time it understood my voice 100% of the time was with a windows mobile 6 phone (lg expo) that I went in and changed registry settings to manually improve bluetooth quality (the good old days when you could tweak your device without having to root or jailbreak) Think it's time for bluetooth implementation to improve or the platform needs to die for something better.
I'm on Three UK.
The 8.1 updated (applied yesterday) has also caused bluetooth issues when connecting to the car head unit. The phone now no longer connects automatically via Bluetooth. I have to toggle BT on and off on the phone to get it to connect. Once connected I get no meta data (i.e. no track listings, controls thru the phone) and neither do I get anything for phone book, recent calls, caller ID etc. Head unit is native AVRCP 1.5 but I've tried setting the phone to 1.3 thru to 1.6 and the same issue persists.
I also have the Smart Device Link pop up re Accu Weather but it counts down from 10 then either re-appears if not yet connected via BT or disappears if I am connected. No problems playing BT Audio other than I get no track listings etc.
Getting occasional crashes of Wuntu & Spotify
Battery appears to drain faster but may be because I was playing around with the BT a lot yesterday.
8.1 clearly still has significant bugs still.
I need 7.1 firmware to roll back (and I guess probably Three branded) but does anyone know where I might get hold of this.

has this cropped up since the 8.1 update? my old Razer phone before I RMA it. worked perfectly fine with both cars bluetooth stereos playing music. new phone in hand now with 8.1 it still "connects" to both stereos. however one simply says no media next to the phone. and it will only play music through the phone itself. ive reset the phone disconnected and reconnected and forgot and re found the stereo. not sure where to go from here. unless I have to wait for the next patch to fix it maybe.

Connect to your car Bluetooth.
settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth > Clicked the settings icon next to my saved car radio Bluetooth connection and unchecked HD audio/ HD AC.
Screenshots i'll try tonight. I'm at work now.
Thanks appreciate it.

Ok, I just spoke to Razer support and they have said if you roll back it voids your warranty. They advised a reset (power and vol up) and if that doesn;t solve it then I can get a replacement.
I'm pretty sure even a replacement won't help. This has only been happening since the latest update with protrait mode etc

xRuhRohx - either way you look at it, it doesnt work anymore. Broken or bug, it still doesnt work.... And whats annoying me the most is how poor customer service are to communicating the fix to this bug/breakage. I had another poor email from them this weekend, I demanded Razer buy me out of my contract due to lack of functionality and not being able to fix the issue in a generous time frame (14 days). They suggested I go (in my own time!) to go and speak to my network provider. Cheek! Confirming I wont buy another Razer product again...
I totally understand the frustration. But fixing and OS issue and pushing it out, isn't a quick process. And yes customer service does leave something to be desired. I just think there are better ways to utilize the forum instead of spouting anger and complaining.

This guy can't be serious.
They had no problem pushing out a second update days/weeks after a working update with no complaints that broke their phone.
They know the update is broken and causes problems and they knowingly left it on their update servers to push out broken update on brand new phones?
The logic?
My case has also been open over 40 days now without any resolution or date of a fix to our issue. That's not customer service that's trying to keep and issue open until your warranty expired and they can tell you to screw off.
If you got the phone under contract I suggest you go back and tell them as they might give you a full refund/a working phone since Raser doesn't produce operational phones.
Ooh a conspiracy theorist. I am so sure they issued the update knowing it would break the Bluetooth. That's a bunch of BS.
I feel so sorry for people who just think everyone is out to get them. Here is a tissue to dry your eyes.
I was the only one trying to fix the problem.
All you've done is complain.
I've provided suggestions, and what have you done other than demand someone owes you something?
Sounds like you could use a fresh diaper.

So I emailed support for an update and got a reply that said MR2 is rolling out before the end of August.
"This issue will be fixed by the Android 8.1 MR2 update which will be available by the end of August.
Thank you for your patience."
Happy days if so.

EDIT:Sorry heaven, I didn't see your edit b4 posting....Still happy days though

Delays happen (that is of course if the Razer support guys were correct. I always find their answers to be wrong as they don't know that much and will say anything to get rid of you)
I know the bluetooth issue is effecting loads of people and Razer are aware of it so I hope you guys get sorted soon.

I was a Samsung user where I used Samsung SmartThings to connect my Bluetooth devices automatically. then I bought the Razer phone 2 and all my auto connections stopped. (I assume because this isn't a Samsung but what do I know ♀️ )
So I went to the F-Droid store (apk) and downloaded an app called "A2DP Volume" and it seems to have done the trick for my 2012 Sonata and my Beats earbuds.

I've had something similar. However now my phone will connect to the car for both phone and audio. The problem that I am having is that it will not autoconnect when I turn the car on.
Secondly sometimes when I play music it would hiccup in between songs or get real choppy.

My 2013 Ford Focus had this issue with it's Microsoft Sync Software. They really really only want you to use certain services and don't like you playing audio just through Bluetooth. How I got it to work is I have to use the voice commands and say "Bluetooth Audio" only then will it actually switch to the right mode to play audio through my car via Bluetooth.

Mine does exactly the same, it will play audio for a few seconds when first connected, then nothing...

Do you have bluetooth speaker? My car doesn't have bluetooth connection so I tried leviathan Mini, the only issue is my neighbor knocking my door, it's already quite time maybe;)
Mine works. Just use a generic 'bluetooth' icon on the stereo. It's a Joying Android stereo.
Depends on your car. I’d check online for any bugs involving bluetooth and your car model.

I am having the same issue. I just picked up the phone today brand new and updated it to 8.1. Bluetooth worked for a few hours then as I went to connect it to my bluetooth speakers again It would connect but no sound would play. I have tried resetting it and everything. It has really annoyed me
I had an issue on 7.1 where spotify would only update my cars display every 2-3 songs, but music and phone worked fine.
Updated to 8.1 and everything worked perfect.
Yesterday's updated killed it.
Now I have to manually select my car in BT, it will show connected on my phone but not my car, the music will play for a moment and this "Smart Device Link" will pop up in the notification bar trying to link Accuweather and then the music stops and the "Smart Device Link" goes away. I am going to remove the Accuweather app on my fitbit and see if that changes anything.
But as of right now, there have been no fitbit app updates recently or Accuweather updates.
The only thing that changed was the Android OS update.

My phone used to connect with my car automatically and had no trouble with playing music and using the Nissan Connect system for the voice search and sending destination's to the satnavs. After I updated the phone it doesn't you have to manually connect it every time you get in the car and it won't connect to the Connect system.
I have the same issue with my Nissan, since the update it will not auto connect, show track details calls are fine but media stopped working it's a nightmare!

Same here, 2014 Nissan Xterra. Will play everything though the car and get calls fine, but the phone no longer tells me that it's a t mobile network, I have to manually connect it to the car each time, I can't use the vehicle let's to go forward or back through thanks, and any time I get a call it always shows as private or blocked out unknown number.
Hey guys, at Bluetooth settings find your car radio connection and click the options on the right side. Then uncheck HD music / music AC and save. Music should work again.
