Razer ornata v2 - media keys stopped working.

Today when I got on my pc and wanted to listen to some music my media keys didn’t work.

Yesterday everything was working with no issues.

The buttons previous track, pause and play, next track don’t work. The only thing that works is the wheel to volume up and down.

Things I tried:

Resseting pc, checking for updates, checking for windows updates, cleaning the keys, unplugging and plugging again, doing a factory reset.

Hope someone will be able to help me, thanks!

Hi lukasz,

I just responded over in Dale’s thread, and I saw where you had posted as well. I think these problems have everyone puzzled. It seems as though everyone got hit up all at the same time! I just ordered a Basilisk V3 (wired) & a Halo Edition Blackwidow V3. Now I’m pondering if I should just send them right back, and not even bother unpackaging them. I did in fact send the Blackwidow v4 & the Naga Pro wireless back due to similar issues.

I have a few speculations:

  1. Razer has recently updated their Synapse 3 (Septic 3) software program. There could be faulty instructions telling our hardware devices to improperly function.
  2. There could have been a faulty firmware update that has disabled those particular peripherals altogether (if you’ve tried to run the firmware update tool).
  3. These devices could have been manufactured with half-@$$ components that are destined to fail over a short period of time (this is a trendy fashion statement that is currently plaguing most electronics, in the post-pandemic era).

^ Regardless of the situation, those are terrible circumstances to endure. We end users can do nothing, when devices are designed to fail right out of the gate.

Try to get in contact with tech support. I used the online chat feature. Try to get the RMA process started, and get your keyboard replaced / swapped out for one that does properly function.

The best way is to check it on another PC without Synapse installed. If you don’t have ability to test it on another device, then close the synapse (from tray - right click and exit all apps).

I have checked on my laptop, the keys also didn’t work there.
