Razer Nommo Pro doesn't turn on anymore?

Dear Razer,

This is the second time my razer isn't able to turn on anymore. I work offshore and my pc has been turned off for a long time, that includes my razer nommo pro. When I try to turn it back on, nothing is happening.
Tried to turn it off and on again, however without any success.
All the cables are correctly, it's just playing dead….. again.
I see this issue is not uncommon and around the internet.
Might be worth looking into it??
How can I fix this issue? My expensive audio set is not working.
I hope to hear from you.

Kind Regards,
Manon

Also, I found this earlier on reddit, if other people are googling and have the same problem:

Razer Nommo Pro not turning on?

Hello all,

This post is for the scrubs like me who bought a Nommo Pro, are way past warranty, and it is doing that dumb thing again where it just will NOT turn on.

It usually happens if you have a power outage, or have to unplug it to move it for some reason.

Some posts say things like leave it off and unplugged for a week. Or hold the power button for seven hours or whatever and I have done that before and it worked, but for whatever reason it didn't work this time.

So before I tell you my solution, DO NOT TRY THIS if you aren't comfortable tampering with electronics. Even if you are, I take no responsibility for what you do to your stuff, or if you injure yourself. This is just to tell you what I did to my stuff to get it working.

  • unplugged my system, opened the bottom of the subwoofer (which has the power supply inside) and first thing I noticed was a visible chongus capacitor.

  • Checked it with my volt meter and it had about 1.1V of charge to it, super safe to discharge with a screwdriver. So I discharged it.

  • I noticed for whatever reason it slowly started charging back up without plugging it back in, so it seems to be powered by some other caps somewhere deeper than I was willing to dig, or perhaps some part of the device has capacitance that shouldn't. So I discharged it a few more times over 2-3 mins just for fun.

  • After that, I plugged it back in and it is working perfectly. No waiting required. (Cap had about 24V of charge after plugging it back in)

I hope this helps others fix razers poorly designed product.
(It sounds pretty good when/if it is actually working tho)

Thanks for the reply, MellonCaine. I guess those of us who aren't good with electronics are out of luck now. I'm 4 months past warranty :(

The solution you found worked. All you do is flip the speaker upside down and peel just enough of that padding away to get to the three screws and take them out. After that you will find eight screws on the outer edge to remove. Carefully move the speaker aside without pulling on the wires. You will see a large black capacitor. On the underside of it on the board you will see two silver points. All you need to do is bridge those two points with a screwdriver or something metal to discharge it, I just held it on there for about 15 seconds. Tried it after that and it's working so thanks for the info guys.

Thanks, will try this, personally I am at the end of my patience with Razer products they are overpriced and unreliable, this should not be a thing with speakers. I also have a expensive Black widow V4 green switches Razer

keyboard which has dozens of keys that dont work, on a £250 keyboard, its for the bin unless I do an expensive and difficult repair opening up to solder in new keys, Razer is a joke, never again.
