Let your Razer Chroma-enabled devices rock to your beats with the beta Audio Visualizer, developed on the latest Razer Chroma SDK 4.8.

Fire off the colors not just on your Razer BlackWidow Chroma, but also on the newly supported Razer Mamba TE & Razer Firefly!

*EDIT* 19th January 2016
Hey everyone! I can't believe it has already almost been 4 months since this post came up and Chroma has come a long way since then! The Audio Visualizer is no longer an early build and the setup process is very simple, I've updated the steps below accordingly.

We’ll let the video du-du-du-du-do the showing:

We really appreciate all the work our community developers have put in to push the potential of the Razer Chroma technology and our friend @CalcProgrammer1 has really done a solid job on the Audio Visualizer. This new Audio Visualizer gives you the freedom to customize the color scheme and tweak its amplitude so you are only limited by your own creativity. Did we mention it’ll not just react to your music, but also to game audio?

Here’s how to get the fun started:

  • Ensure that you have connected you Chroma device and updated Synapse to the latest version
  • Once updated, make sure that under your Chroma device > Chroma Apps tab, you have "Chroma Apps" turned on
  • Head over to the Chroma Workshop and download the Audio Visualizer
  • Install the vc_redist.x86.exe file that comes together in the zip
  • Launch the Audio Visualizer and get rockin'

Have a go at it and show us what you are doing with your Chroma hardware.

FAQs:

To those facing the "mfc140.dll is missing" issue
Download the Visual Studio Redistributable version "vc_redist.x86.exe"

As this is a very early build, it clashes with Advanced Configurator occasionally.

Change your effects to the default ones e.g. Wave, Spectrum Cycling. You can then launch the application and your keyboard/mousemat/mice will show a blank slate until a sound is played.

What products does it work with? *EDIT*
It works with...

  • BlackWidow Chroma / TE
  • DeathStalker Chroma
  • Firefly
  • Diamondback
  • Naga Chroma/Naga Epic
  • Mamba TE/Mamba wireless
  • Orochi
  • DeathAdder Chroma
  • Tartarus Chroma
  • Orbweaver Chroma
  • Kraken 7.1 Chroma

The visualizer bars are really low, anyway to fix that?
You can bump the bar's height up by increasing the amplitude or your volume (not too much please).

How do I get the colours like the ones in the video?
Adjust "Foreground Mode" to the colour scheme that you like. In the video, I used "Rainbow Inverse". You can also add a "Background Mode" should you like.

Does it react to any sounds besides music?
It takes your Windows sound input, hence any sound - including your games or movies!

Do I have to turn off Synapse?
Closing Synapse before launching the app will be the safest.

Keyboard goes black but it does not react to any audio
As the program is reliant on some limited functions by Windows, be sure that your volume is cranked up or adjust the "Amplitude" to a higher value (Try in the 500s or 1000s)

I can't get it to work due to misc reasons that we have yet to identify
I apologize for this, this was meant to be a beta build and I shared it earlier as I knew the video will get you guys psyched for the app! We are using your feedbacks to build a better experience.

While it may be tedious right now, we WILL be reducing the steps and processes in due time with Synapse and etc. That is on top of more product support. Hang in there!

For many of you having issues, I would like to recommend checking the Services tab in Task Manager. If your "Razer Chroma SDK Service" is "Not Running" or "Stopped", right-click and select "Start" or "Start Service". I was having difficulty trying to get this audio visualizer to work, spending approximately four and a half days to no avail. I tried every other solution posted here, but none of them worked for me. Couldn't find any other answers online that I haven't already tried, and I practically gave up all hope. Then one day, I was poking around my Services tab in Task Manager, and low and behold, "Razer Chroma SDK Service" was marked as "Stopped". And I kid you not, the very moment I right-clicked and pressed "Start", suddenly all of my Razer Chroma equipment went black (no lighting effects). With a sudden wind of hope rushing through me, I opened up YouTube and played a video, and sure enough the audio visualizer was working! So if any of you are still having issues, check your "Razer Chroma SDK Service" in the Services tab of Task Manager!

If that doesn't work, do a full uninstall and reinstall of Synapse (both versions if you use both, otherwise whichever version you have installed). I got my Blade Pro this week and it had been factory reset to Windows 10 clean install (bought used). I installed Synapse 2 and I could set the keyboard colors from Synapse, but no Chroma apps worked. I tested Keyboard Visualizer and Overwatch, neither worked. I rebooted and restarted the Chroma SDK service but neither worked. I then uninstalled Synapse, rebooted, and reinstalled it. Chroma apps are working fine now.
vc won't install for me says I already have a higher version.. so can't use the app
Does is it work with Cynosa/Cynosa Pro. It sucks if only my mousepad and mouse are only working.
I just added code support for the Nommo Chroma and Nommo Pro. Sorry these took so long, I had prototypes to add support for but lost my code and didn't have time to rewrite it. I had time now so I rewrote the support and committed them. It will be in the next build.
Hey guys I just got razer blackwidow v2 tournament edition ytd and I tried all kind of solution like add razer generic effect to the setting file yet It all went dark and nothing happened.
Any help would be appreciated or it’s not supported yet ?
Does it work with the Razer Cynosa Chroma Keyboards?
I tried with KeyboardVisualizerVC 3.05 preview in the visualizer shows it running but my keyboard stays black. I have a cynosa chroma. I tried with synapse on/off alongside the visualizer.
Any help would be appreciated.
On the next release I'm just going to make the generic effect the default setting so new keyboards get automatically supported. The custom effects as used now will still be available with a new option razer_use_keyboard_custom_effect, though the only keyboard it's super important for is the Deathstalker Chroma with its lack of per key control. The other keyboards will just have a bit different scaling. I've already committed this change but haven't pushed a new build yet. I also added the Nommo Chroma and Pro, I added support before but lost my code and didn't have time until now to rewrite it.
New release is out on the Releases page. Nommo Chroma and Pro are added, generic keyboard effect is now the default so previously non-working keyboards now work, and there are some other additions as well including support for Espurna firmware flashed RGB light bulbs and ASUS Aura Sync.
I have 4 device does not work with version 3.05
Razer Black Window Chroma V2, Razer Lancehead wireles, Razer Firefly, Razer Mano'War Wreless 7.1.
and version 2.02. it's OK.
Hi I own a Razer Cynosa Chroma and this app isn´t working, i open the .exe and nothing happens. I´ve already installed 3.06 version which is supposed to make it compatible. Also i have tried adding the line razer_use_keyboard_custom_effect to the settings file. And i wish to know if i have to close synapse to make it work.
Looks really cool, I'll try it later.
You do not want to use razer_use_keyboard_custom_effect with the Cynosa, Blade Pro, or Huntsman series of keyboards. These are only supported by the generic effect, which is now default in 3.06. If it's not working, you should try uninstalling and reinstalling Synapse. I just bought myself a new Huntsman Elite which should work similarly to the Cynosa with its underglow effects and the Huntsman Elite works fine with 3.06 with no modifications.
This isn't working on my Blackwidow X Chroma but works fine on my mamba te mouse. Any ideas why?
Try reinstalling Synapse. Are you using Synapse 2 or 3? Sometimes devices stop working with the Chroma SDK and this seems more common with Synapse 2.

I´ve reinstalled Synapse 3 and now it works fine. Thanks!
The AudioVisualizer doesnt work with my Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2. Is it necessary to install Visual C++2015 when I have the 2017 version? Because I installed the 2015 one and the 2017 after and then the 2017 one was gone.
If the visualizer app opens, you don't need to mess with the visual C++ runtime.

It opens. The first time I opened it the default chroma effect appeared and I started tweaking some settings, however the sound is not visualized. If I select White as background mode the LEDs turn white but no audio is visualized.
Try increasing the Amplitude field. Some sound cards it seems need very high numbers like 10000.

Thanks a lot this fixed it for me!

Both of these work. For best results get version 3.06 from my GitHub Releases page:

https://github.com/CalcProgrammer1/KeyboardVisualizerVCUI_Release

Also supported in 3.06: Cynosa, Huntsman/Elite, Blade Pro, and any other unsupported board. I'm using the generic effects as default now which work with any Razer SDK supported keyboard.

Thank you for the Visualizer, I've used it since the earliest version. I recently purchased a pair of Nommo Chroma speakers so I upgraded Visualizer to ver 3.06. In ver 3.05 the speakers just showed the higher end frequencies with the lower end frequencies displaying on the keyboard and mouse (which would be an awesome feature to have). Now each device shows the full spectrum (awesome!). Unfortunately the spectrum on the speakers stays mostly maxed out while it looks great on the mouse and keyboard with the amplitude set at 300%. Is there any way to tweak the display sensitivity (amplitude 😵 per device?
