Let your Razer Chroma-enabled devices rock to your beats with the beta Audio Visualizer, developed on the latest Razer Chroma SDK 4.8.

Fire off the colors not just on your Razer BlackWidow Chroma, but also on the newly supported Razer Mamba TE & Razer Firefly!

*EDIT* 19th January 2016
Hey everyone! I can't believe it has already almost been 4 months since this post came up and Chroma has come a long way since then! The Audio Visualizer is no longer an early build and the setup process is very simple, I've updated the steps below accordingly.

We’ll let the video du-du-du-du-do the showing:

We really appreciate all the work our community developers have put in to push the potential of the Razer Chroma technology and our friend @CalcProgrammer1 has really done a solid job on the Audio Visualizer. This new Audio Visualizer gives you the freedom to customize the color scheme and tweak its amplitude so you are only limited by your own creativity. Did we mention it’ll not just react to your music, but also to game audio?

Here’s how to get the fun started:

  • Ensure that you have connected you Chroma device and updated Synapse to the latest version
  • Once updated, make sure that under your Chroma device > Chroma Apps tab, you have "Chroma Apps" turned on
  • Head over to the Chroma Workshop and download the Audio Visualizer
  • Install the vc_redist.x86.exe file that comes together in the zip
  • Launch the Audio Visualizer and get rockin'

Have a go at it and show us what you are doing with your Chroma hardware.

FAQs:

To those facing the "mfc140.dll is missing" issue
Download the Visual Studio Redistributable version "vc_redist.x86.exe"

As this is a very early build, it clashes with Advanced Configurator occasionally.

Change your effects to the default ones e.g. Wave, Spectrum Cycling. You can then launch the application and your keyboard/mousemat/mice will show a blank slate until a sound is played.

What products does it work with? *EDIT*
It works with...

  • BlackWidow Chroma / TE
  • DeathStalker Chroma
  • Firefly
  • Diamondback
  • Naga Chroma/Naga Epic
  • Mamba TE/Mamba wireless
  • Orochi
  • DeathAdder Chroma
  • Tartarus Chroma
  • Orbweaver Chroma
  • Kraken 7.1 Chroma

The visualizer bars are really low, anyway to fix that?
You can bump the bar's height up by increasing the amplitude or your volume (not too much please).

How do I get the colours like the ones in the video?
Adjust "Foreground Mode" to the colour scheme that you like. In the video, I used "Rainbow Inverse". You can also add a "Background Mode" should you like.

Does it react to any sounds besides music?
It takes your Windows sound input, hence any sound - including your games or movies!

Do I have to turn off Synapse?
Closing Synapse before launching the app will be the safest.

Keyboard goes black but it does not react to any audio
As the program is reliant on some limited functions by Windows, be sure that your volume is cranked up or adjust the "Amplitude" to a higher value (Try in the 500s or 1000s)

I can't get it to work due to misc reasons that we have yet to identify
I apologize for this, this was meant to be a beta build and I shared it earlier as I knew the video will get you guys psyched for the app! We are using your feedbacks to build a better experience.

While it may be tedious right now, we WILL be reducing the steps and processes in due time with Synapse and etc. That is on top of more product support. Hang in there!

Pls send me all your settings for the. Death adder and pls give how u did from start to end
You should update the first page to include the DA Chroma build as well as fix the information regarding that. Thanks.

It only works during big peaks in songs, so either set the amplitude higher or turn up your volume. I have my foreground set to rainbow and single color mode set to follow foreground. That worked best for me. Also make sure you installed all the files correctly.

I can't update the OP since Razer posted it. Razer|Rfx please update the link on the first page to 1.07 build posted recently.
ok I raised the amplitude and the volume to max.... wel nothing do I have to install everything a order?

You are using my latest build (1.07) right? The link in the first page is really outdated.
yes I am using everything latest but do I need to install the things in a correct order
Mine is working perfectly, except that the colors wont project onto my Mamba Chroma- any ideas?
Can someone post a video of you using this on your death adder chroma?

I ordered mine and its coming next week. I just really wanna see it in action but i cant find any videos!

Thanks
It would be cool if there was something like this for the chroma headphones! Like, the light gets brighter at louse noises, and dimmer at quite noises. When there's no sound at all, maybe there should be a very very dim light. What do you guys think?

Build 1.07 supports the Kraken 7.1 Chroma, though it's flickery due to firmware limitations that Razer is working on a fix for.

The important part in the order is that you run the .reg files after you install the SDK. I would run the x64 reg file first and then run the x86 reg file second. Then reboot.
This looks super pretty, I wanna run it 😛
hey calc thanks a lot it finally worked thanks I had to install the reg files in order thanks this is awesome;):) and will this be good for gaming like when I shoot and get loud sounds?

Yes, since it looks at the output audio from the Windows sound server, any app that plays audio will work through it, including games, music players, browsers, voice chat, etc.

I tested the DA. (music is merely illustrative)

This sounds like a sound card issue, nothing to do with my program. WASAPI does not handle output device changes I don't think, so when you unplug the headphones your audio device switches to speakers and the WASAPI session ends. Does it do the same thing when my program isn't open? The "can't play the song" thing is pretty common across other media players too. Clementine (what I use) will just sit there and not play the song until the audio card is ready and I've had my USB DAC lock up a few times that prevented it from playing.

When i unplug and the program is open, they crash.

When i close your program and plug. and reopen the program, i need to switch the amplitude 3x more to get the same result.;
New build! Version 1.08:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1Fq0HEJolPtQUFrZzdzZl80WGc/view?usp=sharing

No new devices this time, just some feature updates:

* Static background colors (White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple)

* Follow Foreground background mode (flashes the background same as follow foreground single color visualizer used on logo LEDs)

* Adjusted frequency scaling a bit, "zoomed in" on the lower frequencies by throwing out more samples, this is still hard coded for now

* New configurable options Normalization Offset and Normalization Scale. I've had a normalization line in the code for a while, but it was hard coded. Normalization basically means a linear function applied to the frequency spectrum to try and normalize all the frequencies, so that no part of the range is overpowering (bass frequencies tend to be very overpowering). The function takes the form f(x) = (offset/100) + ((scale/100) * (x/256)) where X is the frequency band (out of 256 bands, 0 being bass and 255 being treble) and it f(x) is the normalization factor that is multiplied by that frequency band. The default values are 50, 50 which means bass frequencies are cut by 50% and it increases at a moderate rate. For bass heavy songs (hip hop, pop, dance, electronic, etc) you'll get the best response with a heavy bass reduction and a large scaling factor, something like 10, 75. For rock, country, etc. that isn't bass heavy you may be fine with 50, 50 or may even want to lessen the effect with 80, 20 or something like that. Play around with it and come up with your favorite normalization values and I'll eventually add a drop down box to pick from presets.
Nouuuu. It doesn't work with my razer death added chroma 😨

Nouuuu. It doesn't work with my razer death added chroma D:

U have the download the reg files run x64 then x84 and reboot after reboot run the audio visualiser (don't forget to close synapse)
The visualiser Doesn't create lag but the 1.07 update was kinda better than 1.08
FFT Window mode... What it does?
And I need the normalisation number for shooting games and also electronic music
Try 10 for offset, 75 for scale, and maybe lower amplitude to 75 if its still too much. 1.08 should be considered experimental, I didn't have time to come up with good defaults so you have to mess with the normalization values to make it look good. I'll post a new build with better values after I do more testing.
I know this is something new but can we expect this to be integrated in Synapse?
i tried installing x86 version,SDK Installers and install the "SDK Core Files but when i try to run the keyboard visualizer the light is not the same as the video shown in Youtube.
