Let your Razer Chroma-enabled devices rock to your beats with the beta Audio Visualizer, developed on the latest Razer Chroma SDK 4.8.

Fire off the colors not just on your Razer BlackWidow Chroma, but also on the newly supported Razer Mamba TE & Razer Firefly!

*EDIT* 19th January 2016
Hey everyone! I can't believe it has already almost been 4 months since this post came up and Chroma has come a long way since then! The Audio Visualizer is no longer an early build and the setup process is very simple, I've updated the steps below accordingly.

We’ll let the video du-du-du-du-do the showing:

We really appreciate all the work our community developers have put in to push the potential of the Razer Chroma technology and our friend @CalcProgrammer1 has really done a solid job on the Audio Visualizer. This new Audio Visualizer gives you the freedom to customize the color scheme and tweak its amplitude so you are only limited by your own creativity. Did we mention it’ll not just react to your music, but also to game audio?

Here’s how to get the fun started:

  • Ensure that you have connected you Chroma device and updated Synapse to the latest version
  • Once updated, make sure that under your Chroma device > Chroma Apps tab, you have "Chroma Apps" turned on
  • Head over to the Chroma Workshop and download the Audio Visualizer
  • Install the vc_redist.x86.exe file that comes together in the zip
  • Launch the Audio Visualizer and get rockin'

Have a go at it and show us what you are doing with your Chroma hardware.

FAQs:

To those facing the "mfc140.dll is missing" issue
Download the Visual Studio Redistributable version "vc_redist.x86.exe"

As this is a very early build, it clashes with Advanced Configurator occasionally.

Change your effects to the default ones e.g. Wave, Spectrum Cycling. You can then launch the application and your keyboard/mousemat/mice will show a blank slate until a sound is played.

What products does it work with? *EDIT*
It works with...

  • BlackWidow Chroma / TE
  • DeathStalker Chroma
  • Firefly
  • Diamondback
  • Naga Chroma/Naga Epic
  • Mamba TE/Mamba wireless
  • Orochi
  • DeathAdder Chroma
  • Tartarus Chroma
  • Orbweaver Chroma
  • Kraken 7.1 Chroma

The visualizer bars are really low, anyway to fix that?
You can bump the bar's height up by increasing the amplitude or your volume (not too much please).

How do I get the colours like the ones in the video?
Adjust "Foreground Mode" to the colour scheme that you like. In the video, I used "Rainbow Inverse". You can also add a "Background Mode" should you like.

Does it react to any sounds besides music?
It takes your Windows sound input, hence any sound - including your games or movies!

Do I have to turn off Synapse?
Closing Synapse before launching the app will be the safest.

Keyboard goes black but it does not react to any audio
As the program is reliant on some limited functions by Windows, be sure that your volume is cranked up or adjust the "Amplitude" to a higher value (Try in the 500s or 1000s)

I can't get it to work due to misc reasons that we have yet to identify
I apologize for this, this was meant to be a beta build and I shared it earlier as I knew the video will get you guys psyched for the app! We are using your feedbacks to build a better experience.

While it may be tedious right now, we WILL be reducing the steps and processes in due time with Synapse and etc. That is on top of more product support. Hang in there!

Have you maybe connected a Kraken 7.1 chroma? If so, Update your Synapse to the newest Version

no I only have a blackwidow Chroma
Blackwidow Chroma, and it doesn't work, installed x86, turned on synapse, tried, nothing, (app is activated) turned off synapse, still nothing, unplugged replugged, nothing, reinstalled x86 and restarted, kept synapse off, doesn't work still, I've literally tried everything and this doesn't work, such a shame, this worked like a year ago on my krakens, but now that I have a blackwidow, it fails to even react to any of my peripherals. Gonna try reinstalling synapse or keeping it uninstalled to see if anything changes.

me too but it doésnt help reinstalling nothing works it is like it is not a chroma and the program thinks it is someting else XD
Ok, well, I have a different story, I reinstalled Synapse, and after restarting three times to uninstall and reinstall everything (probably not healthy for my computer) it now officially works. To my surprise, idk what was wrong, but I guess a fresh reinstall of everything Razer worked.
I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!
It's playing the colors whenever my playback device is my speakers, but when my playback device is my kraken headphones, it no longer works. Odd? How dost I fix?

Lol, found a fix, I disabled my speakers (in the playback devices, legit right click and disable your speakers) and the keyboard app will crash, relaunch it and it now set itself to record and visualize my headphones. gg
When I run the Sound visualizer, all of my peripherals go black and don't light up. And by Blackwidow Chroma's lighting profiles are never saving. Razer should really try and make less irritating softwares next time, but at least it isn't as bad as Logitech's.
Did you tried the installation manual for the sound visualizer and it's faq's ? My Blackwidow Chroma rocks to every Sound it gets.

Hey @AlKiRi seems like @Vaypron has been giving you some tips to help solve you issue on your end. However, if you are still experiencing issue while using the sound visualizer and with your lighting profiles please write in to Razer Support so that they can assist.
Can confrim. not working on Blackwidow Chroma X.
I have to go into the folder (in my case its in my downloads folder) and launch it from there, even tho it shows up in synapse, it wont automatically launch. Is that how its supposed to be or am I missing something?

Hi @Dragoș Bahrim and @Crash087 it will be great if you could provide us with more details by writing into Razer Support. We wouldn't want anyone to miss out on such an awesome feature.
Hi everyone,
In the first place I would like to thank the OP for such an amazing work on the Audio Visualizer, it's been quite a long journey from the early build and now the program looks amazing (even on the Naga epic chroma :O).

I've been adding the audio visualizer on my starting list (in my Tasks manager) in order for it to start while booting the computer. It works but I have to put my custom amplitude value, make my personnal settings and hide it in the notification bar each time I boot the PC.

Here's my question, is there any manipulation I could do to indicate in *.ini file (or equivalent) the values I want for the progam to start already configured with my settings and minimized ?

yes there is a way here in the forum but u have to find it somewhere
I manage to get what I wanted, for those who want the same, here's what I did :

- Create a shortcut of the AudioVisualizer
- Right click on the shortcut --> Properties
- In the Target field, add some arguments next to the path to the AudioVisualizer for me it look like this :
"C:\\Users\\XXX\\Documents\\KeyboardVisualizerVC.exe startminimized amplitude=600 bkgd_mode=3 frgd_mode=12"
- Apply and close
- Copy the edited shortcut
- Go to "%appdata%\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Startup"
- Paste the shortcut
- Enjoy the Visualizer starting minimized with all your settings as soon as you boot your computer !
Hey guys

I have a problem with the Audio Visualizer since updating Razer Synapse and the Audio Visualizer to the latest versions once close the audio visualizer app my black widow Chroma does not go back to my custom profile but defaults to the wave(rainbow) profile.

I have reinstalled Synapse and Visual C++ X86 and X64 still having the same issue.
is there any way to fix this as i have mapped the app to one of my macro keys to start it up and shut it down easily when playing music, and it is a real pain to have to go back and re select my custom lighting profile
Please please please try and find a way to get vertical to work even somewhat on the DeathStalker Chroma! Is it even remotely possible?

Hey guys, for some reason I cannot get the audio visualizer to work on the new blade. Is this because it is not yet compatible?

I'm having the same issue with the new razer blade chroma. Doesn't seem to be compatible.

yeah I don't think it is yet
Can we have it compatible to Blackwidow X as I wanna try this awesome app

Can anyone help me? The visualizer is working on my Deathadder mouse, but not my Blackwidow X. It just turns off the lights on the keyboard and the mouse turns on.

Exact same problem. Has this been fixed? P
It looks so cool! I installed in app where I can see that on my desktop but it always looks best on amazing chroma keyboards.
Hi everyone!
What I must do if it doesn't works on Razer DeathAdder Chroma?
In archive I have 2 files. First one is vc_redist and the second one is KeyboardVisualiserVC 1.11.
And I have empty list of Chroma applications in Razer Synapse.
Does it works on this mouse?
Thx for the great work!
