I opened my new 17" Razer Blade up today to add a second SSD in the open NVMe slot and found the slot had a large pad in the middle of that slot.
Can I remove that pad?

FYI - I spoke with support at Razer and they said this pad could be removed. I have since removed it cleanly and installed the new SSD. The inside of the back lid comes from the factory with large/thick heat pads for each slot and so no additional head sync was required. Installed easily and I now have an extra 2 TB with 6588 MB/s read and 4953 MB/s write. Used Samsung 980 PRO. Nice SSD.

I had the same question when I opened my laptop! I didn't take the same safe approach as you and just ended up prying the pad off after slightly bending one of my junk m.2's attempting to install over the pad....
Thanks for the follow-up! I'm sure it will help others who experience the same thing.
