Blade Stealth - out to widescreen external monitor

Hi all I've switched over to a Blades Stealth (2019) with the UHD 620 card and want to use it with a Samsung Ultra Widescreen monitor LC34J791WTUXEN 34". I've tried some USB-C hubs, one works with HDMI, but only displays at 1920 x 1080 which has the wrong aspect ratio. I've switched to USB-C / Thunderbolt direct and nothing at all. The laptop detects the hardware and chimes a sound, but doesn't display anything. The Samsungs are the primary monitors in our office and if I can't drive one from the Stealth I can request a different one. However it would be good to work out the issues first.
