Failed to initialize Direct3D/GPU malfunction? | Razer Insider

Hi! In January-February of this year I bought a refurbished Blade 15 from the Razer store on Ebay. Since then, I've had some issues running games on this computer. I frequently get this error message when attempting to open games:

"Failed to initialize Direct3D.

Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your

graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration

in display settings.

InitializeEngineGraphics failed"

I have googled it multiple times and every time I come across the main 3 causes:

checking the DirectX version

making sure Direct3D Acceleration is enabled

updating my drivers (I also have Driver Easy, my drivers are usually up to date)

and uninstalling & reinstalling the Visual C ++ Redistributables (note the installed date on all of them)

Occasionally, my laptop screen also does this "blinking" thing where once every couple minutes or so the screen blacks out for a second or two, and it will continue to do this until I restart.

I also saw that the root cause could either be a malware issue, and I should note that I also use TotalAV and my computer is malware free.

The only other thing that I have seen is that it could be a hardware issue. I don't have a warranty directly with Razer since I purchased it on Ebay, but I do have a little over a year left on my All State warranty that came with it. I'd love to open it up & take a look around to make sure everything is installed correctly, but I'd rather not risk voiding my warranty.

I'm wondering if anyone can take a guess at what could be wrong? Or if you think I need to take advantage of my warranty and try to send it back for repairs? I'm not sure what else to do, please let me know if you can help! Thank you!
