Kraken Tournament Edition with USB broken with latest Razer Synapse 3

I've been having a terrible experience with these headphones. They were working, if badly via the USB (vague sound, distant 3d effects, microphone quiet etc) They work fine when not using the USB dongle.

But now, after today's latest update to razer synapse, it completely died and was producing nothing but static across the USB dongle. When i plugged the headphones directly into the PC sound card they work fine. Also... finally i uninstalled Synapse entirely and low and behold the headphones work again crystal clear through the USB dongle. I'm now trying to do a completely fresh install of synapse again...

This is windows 10 with Synapse 3.3.1012.101219

Edit: btw, i have already checked for latest updates and there are none. This is a major breaking bug and needs to be fixed. I only bought these headphones a couple weeks ago and probably going to take back. shame because my last Razer headphones were good. last i buy unfortunately, once bitten twice shy etc...

Now that I’ve had a proper listen, chat channel has this same fuzz too. I’ll just put the USB card back in the draw again lol

Thanks for confirming, the Chat channel works on mine, however the volume is super low and I’ve found no way yet to fix it, so that’s not a workable option for me either. I has the buyers remorse lol


turn the knob on the thx controller all the way down and turn the volume up.

I've got the same problem, with the Chat working fine, but harsh buzzing on the Game channel. I just went through the whole RMA process, and the brand new headset has the same issue as the old one, so it has to be a software issue. Plugging the headset into a PC without Synapse, and both channels work just fine.

For now no.They tell me too its 3 party apps the problem.Disable the THX spartial audio fixes the static to some degree.With one update they make it worse with other it's fixed the next one brake it....They will figure it out eventually.For now you can switch to TE-Chat for the main audio source there are no isues with it but the sound is flat .

Is there any resolution to this? I just bought mine a couple of weeks ago and first of all had massive sound card issues (on a brand new laptop AMD Ryzen) and had to rebuild the thing and selectively install audio drivers. However I still have this issue when using the USB soundcard - it's not as bad as it was before, and not as bad as it is in the video on this thread - but it's enough static to be annoying. Especially when I wanted to use these for mixing music too - the entire reason I went for these was for the high quality sound with adjustable EQ. Except, I can't adjust frequencies to get a flat EQ without Synapse, and with Synapse, all I can hear is artifacts :(

Is it even worth logging with Razer? If they are just going to tell me it's "3rd party apps"... I'm really considering returning these now. Which sucks big fat ones because I heart them visually so much and know that I can get good sound out of them without synapse, I am fully keen for this concept 😞

im running nvidia drivers with with the whole razer synapse 3 keyboard and mouse with steam and discord so i, but this happens too when im listening to music in chrome while playing. As i said before i reinstall the synapse drivers and the problem got lesser than used to be but still the issue

It's the same no change at all.The problem is mechanical sounds like train moving it crackles then.Can you tell me what programs you have running at the backround.Im thinking the stock audio drivers mess up the things

you know what i did? i reinstall all the Razer software did a clean install and it works now sometimes starts again but stops after like 5 secs so i guess it worked

With the information that you have provided, and after carefully attempting to reproduce your issue, our Development Team identified that the behavior of your software is caused by external factors outside of our team’s means. This means that there may be third party software installed that is affecting your Razer Software to behave this way.

It's basically unserious.We here running different software but having the same problem.Synapse 3 shoudn't be affected by any other software.The only thing that may affect it is the default sound card drivers and the nvidia drivers.I can't uninstall them...

mine still the same when theres a high sound like when somebody joins your dicord channel or leaves it starts cutting audio then you wait soem minutes and it goes but sometimes its get worse


Switch the default playback audio device to Kraken TE Chat the knob on the spartial audio hold down until i bees one time and a few secs wil beep again.And you will use them mostly fine.Well it will be withould the thx spartial audio and the sound will be flat but you can get used yo it.That what we can do for now except waiting for a fix.I have open comunication with Razer staff will see what is what.

The update from today 17.12 fixed most of the crackles i personaly can torelate it for now except but it still need work to be 100% correctly working.

Ah! anyway if you default the sound into Kraken TE - Chat, it will not have the static. It seem like only theKraken TE - Game is causing the issue.

Now im 100 % sure its a firmware problem.I received the replacement headset and this is stll occuring.I was promted to update the firmware to 88

I contacted the store from which i bought the headset and the wanted me to sent it for a test because i told them i can't do it on another PC .That happened monday .Today Friday they called me and the problem occured when they test it.Automaticlly they RMA it and will send me a new one.I told them about the thread here but the said im the only one to contact the with Kraken TE problem.So for me it was bad thx controller maybe but im having one in mind for the firmware messing up something.

I was thinking that the thx usb card was the issue or Synapse 3 and now im sure its Synapse.Razer Support said that this is isolated issue.Well... it is not ...
They told me to try e few things but the did't work and now i'm waiting for reply from them.Also will mention what you told me when they reply.
