Mac Library LaunchAgents folder: Accidently deleted files, causing menu bar to return to foreground | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hi

Originally i was trying to delete the application "Razer Synapse" from my Mac menu bar (which was not working with the usual cmd+click and deleting the app manually) and by accident deleted two plist files in my ~/Library/LaunchAgents Folder.

Now my Mac is almost unusable: Every few seconds the menu bar comes to the "foreground", meaning whatever i do gets interrupted and "greyed out", as if you'd click on something else and my "Razer Synapse" menu bar icon pops up. (Currently i have just two files in my LaunchAgents Folder: "com.google.keystone.agent.plist" and "com.valvesoftware.steamclean.plist", that's it. Now i have no idea how to fix this issue. I'd be very thankful for any hint!

edit: This seems also to affect the "Restart" function: When trying to restart my mac, i get a black screen and nothing happens, so I'm forced to hold the Power button.

That's alarming. Did you follow the steps on how to reinstall the Razer Synapse 2.0 on your Mac? Refer to the instructions below:

1. Drag Synapse on the Trash folder then empty the Trash.

2. Restart your Mac.

3. Open the Library folder and unhide the files you want to remove. To do this, open Utilities > open Terminal > type chflags no hidden ~Library > press Return and then go to the Library folder.

4. Look for any files or folders with the Synapse or Razer name in the library /Library/, /Library/Preferences/, and ~/Library/Application Support/ folders (also check out $sudo rm -r /Library/Application\\ Support/Razer) and then move any files or folders that you may find to the Trash, and then empty it to delete the files. Others may need to look in these folders for other Razer branded files with ls -la, which will show you all files and folders in your current directory, including hidden ones. Please check below:

$rm -r ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Razer

$rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.razerzone. *

5. Restart your computer.

6. Turn off all Firewall and Anti-virus software to prevent any conflicts.

7. Download the Razer Synapse 2.0 from the website.

8. Allow Synapse to fully update, restarting immediately when prompted.

Otherwise, please submit a case to our Support Team through this link. I would also suggest contacting Apple Support as they are more capable of providing steps on how to fix an issue with the Mac OS. I’ll be locking this thread now. Feel free to send me a PM anytime or visit our self-help options should you have other questions or concerns.

Note: The Mac OS is not supported in Synapse 3. However, it is supported in Synapse 2.0.

Razer Synapse 2.0 has support for certain devices for the Mac OS versions below:

  • MAC OSX 10.10 to 10.14

  • MAC OSX 10.9 to 10.13

  • MAC OSX 10.8

  • MAC OSX 10.6/10.7
