The screen goes black after a period of use even though the rest of the laptop is running fine. It also often happens when waking up the laptop from sleep.

I just got a Razer 15 and this is happening to me as well.
If I close it and re-open it the screen works. Windows key + control + Shift + B doesn't help.
Doesn't seem to happen when I'm in a game.
