Razer 17 Pro Black screen after 2004 Windows 10 update

Hello,
After updating Windows 10 2004 version, it started to have a black screen. It still works (eg: if connected to a projector by HDMI).

Model:
Razer Blade 17 Pro
2080 MaxQ
RZ09-03148

The drivers are updated.
I already read some previous forums and tried to install the BIOS 1.04. Although since is for different models (RZ-09 03295 and RZ-09 03297), I cannot install the BIOS and the problem remains. Is there any BIOS update for my model? Any suggestions?

Hey everyone! The black screen after wake up or from sleep/screens off has been fixed for Blade Pro 17 by updating the graphics driver to NVIDIA 457.30. If in case you have the latest NVIDIA graphics version, please roll it back to this version and see if it helps.

Still no update? Any insight or advice to the forum would be greatly appreciated
i am having this issue on my 2019 (late) razer blade 17, 4k 120hz. cant wake up from sleep, screen goes black when launching full screen games and can only get picture back by hard resetting, drivers 460.79 do NOT work, either does 457.30. This is an absolute joke!
ok just updating here that the new 460.79 driver does not fix this, I've done a clean install of the driver after using driver cleaner in safe mode.

Doesn't work for my model, mine is the late 2019 blade pro RZ09-0314x 😞
Dear all,

I managed to get my brand new Razer blade pro 17 2020 i got a few days ago to finally boot into windows/run benchmarks etc while dedicated GPU setting without being plugged into mains electricity (battery only).

1. Update windows 10 so shows no new updates available
2. Update razer update centre until shows no new updates available
3. Update NVIDIA to 457.30-notebook-win10-64bit-international-dch-whql

I can now boot into windows after doing all above (NVIDIA drivers key) here i think... but its pretty obvious that the performance still remains better while plugged into mains eletricity.

I honestly think razer built a subpar laptop here (battery weak vs components) in true laptop mode (battery only) its still not 100% power.

This laptop either doesn't boot at all for dedicated GPU use, or when it does finally boot it wont run full throttle razer obviously built this laptop above the capabilities of the battery.

Just to give a rough idea of performance... mirroed deficites across the board but i like 3dmark06

41888 3dmark06 score (plugged into mains every thing updated to 1.2.3 spec listed above)

30171 3dmark06 score (battery power everything updated to 1.2.3 spec listed above)

17280 (nvidia optimus setting prior to update 1.2.3 above) clear dedicated GPU not being used at all!

40465 3dmark 06 score (when i first booted laptop prior to updating everything plugged into mains)

0 3dmark06 score (when first unplugged laptop didn't even boot until tried 1.2.3 fix)

We could blame NVIDIA drivers 100% if it didn't work on/off battery, but its clear the TDP wattage requirements of this laptop far exceed the capability of the laptops battery by simple fact performance/stability differs night and day when unplugged or plugged into mains.

If i wanted a thing that worked properly plugged into mains i would have bought a desktop PC, i needed a laptop and what have i got... the most expensive laptop ive ever bought and it doesn't work properly.

I feel this product is missold as specs should have a disclaimer (only when plugged into mains) we were not advised this at time of purchase at all!

How'd you get it to work ? I tried removing the driver, cleaning it with display driver cleaner and installing 4573 but am still getting the black screen coming back from sleep or rest mode, and with some resolution
Like many of us who buy the Razer Blade pro 17 2020 4k 120 hz.
Until the 452.06 driver everything worked fine, from the next newer version, everything stopped working well, Black Screen, reboot the Blade as new, uninstall windows and reinstall it, update the Bios etc etc, I had to go back to controllers 452.06 and there I stayed. at least to use the Blade.
Yesterday I contacted razer support to check with them if it was reliable to update to the 457.30 drivers. and they confirmed that yes, but before updating the nvidia drivers, I updated the Razer Blade Pro 17 "(2020) EC drivers, and right after the Nvidia 457.30 drivers, and it worked. Actually improved the graphics quality of COD <Modern warfare and Cold War.
changes.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT IS HONOR TO TELL YOU THAT AFTER SO MANY MONTHS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO UPDATE THE 457.30 CONTROLLERS, AFTER BEING JAMMED AT 452.06.
I AM NOT HAPPY BECAUSE IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO FIND A BETTER OPTION TO EXIT MAC BOOK PRO.
AND THIS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE.
I WISH RAZER TO DO WHAT IT HAS TO DO TO MEET ITS OBLIGATION TO SELL A QUALITY PRODUCT AND MORE FOR THAT PRICE.
I PERFECTLY UNDERSTAND THAT THE COMPONENTS OF YOUR PRODUCT ARE FROM THIRD PARTIES, SO IT MUST BE MORE DEMANDING.
I HOPE THAT THIS MOMENTARY CORRECTION WILL BE DEFINITELY SOLVED.
RAZER, GAINING SOMEONE'S TRUST IS DIFFICULT, LOSING IT IS TOO EASY.

No, but that's definitely an acceptable temporary workaround compared to an unusable black screen. It shows that a fix is possible. Also, since it's a software bug affecting everyone, I'm confident that either Razer or Nvidia will fix it for good, ultimately.

I hope so, the only workaround for me has been sticking with 452.06 from August, It's pretty frustrating waiting this long with no proper fix yet. I'm glad that you're able to use a more recent driver though.

And you are right the fact that it's a software bug gave me hope, after waiting this long I'm not as confident as you are as much as I would like to be, it's a shame because other than this the machine is awesome and has served me very well since I bought it.

Also are you happy with just staying with 457.3 and not updating drivers? that's not a permanent fix in my opinion my friend

It's working for me with 457.30.
Blade 17 Pro 2020 with 2080S, Windows 20H2, Bios 1.04, Dedicated GPU 120 Hz. No black screen on boot, resume from sleep, gaming.

Mine is the late 2019 model w/ 2080 120hz 4k, bios 1.04 if I update past 452.06 to any nvidia driver I get a black screen after resume from sleep and sometimes after resolution changes.

I tried a clean install of 457.3 previously when they were released, and again today after your post. IT DOES NOT WORK!!! the problem still persists. And even if it had you cannot seriously expect us to accept the solution as use this old driver, but don't upgrade to any new ones!!!

We need a permanent fix for this problem, it has been 3 months now, this is completely unacceptable for such an expensive product.

from geforce experience, it just gives me the driver option version 457.51.
How do I download 457.30? please

the new 457.51 drivers released earlier today, the ones before that didn't fix this either

I'll update here if I find any other workaround other than reverting to 452.06

which controller exactly, if you can tell me please.

You're welcome. I'm also waiting for the team's advice/updates. Have a great day. Cheers!

it's been almost three months since this issue started, the biggest game of the year is coming out next week and I have not been able to update the GFX driver on my 3800$ laptop in 3 months!!!

This is getting quite ridiculous at this point, no updates on a workaround, no fix from Razer!! When can we expect a fix for this for what was / is your flagship laptop?????

Hi, any news about nvidia drivers, which will fix the black screen?

The new nvidia driver released today doesn't fix this.
I haven't tried any of the new Nvidia drivers after the latest windows updates. I'm really hoping this gets fixed before Cyberpunk comes out. I would prefer to play that on PC not on a console.
