I was able to fix my Basilisk V3 by first unplugging the Razer, plugging in my backup Logitech MX518, and then uninstalling the Razer Basilisk V3 driver from Device Manager, selecting the box to also uninstall the driver software associated with device.  I then used IObit Uninstaller to completely uninstall Synapse + any leftover files.  I restarted my PC and used the MX518 for about an hour when I decided to try my Razer one last time before buying a replacement… (after about 6 months of use, my serial sticker just peeled off, so I’m sure pushing a warranty claim would be a frivolous endeavor) I plugged in my Razer mouse while the MX518 was also still plugged in.  Windows auto installed the drivers, and BAM it was back to working perfectly.  I left the MX518 plugged in for a while as well, because initially after updating the firmware on the basilisk just one day prior, it worked fine for about 5 or 6 hours without issue… I did not immediately install synapse and initially had no intentions of doing so…

The next day when I continued using the Razer, with the Logi still plugged in, it kept working fine.  I eventually unplugged the Logi and I eventually downloaded/installed Synapse again….Everything has been working just fine ever since.  Maybe this will help some of ya’ll, I sure hope so...

I don´t know if this is related but i´m also suffering from some weird software issues with the mouse.

It disconnects whenever i lift the mouse up and reconnects when put down. Its not a wire issue, it still happens when i cover the sensor with my finger and don´t move the mouse. Have reinstalled both the mouse and the USB drivers, reset my windows, checked bios. Tried different things that were recommended in other forums. In some USB ports the mouse doesn´t work at all, while the lights are dimly lit on it.

After reinstalling synapse and opening it, the mouse disconnected altogether until i closed all Razer programs.

Another mouse works just fine in the same port.

Might be unrelated but the smart scroll also stopped working. The mechanism stopped grabbing the wheel properly and scroll got way too “Soft”. Probably not an issue with debris because it works fine with smart scroll turned off.

Can anyone recommend a mouse that doesn´t break in a half a year? Cause it seems to be a trend lately. 🙂

I’m finally able to make posts again…

try my updated guide here: Basilisk V3 & Blackwidow V3

I’ve noticed that if you only install the bare minimum requirements in Synapse 3, then there isn’t as many issues.

NOTE: This is not a fix, it’s a temporary work-around.

I just may have discovered another temp workaround. If you have the CHROMA modules installed, then uninstall them.

I’ve noticed, yet again, another bug / glitch. It appears that if a major change to the computer is made, such as renaming the PC, it just can’t take it.

For some reason the Synapse 3 software cannot mediate certain changes to the operating system (Windows 11 Pro), which usually causes your devices not to be detected within Synapse 3. So I renamed my computer back to its original name. Then I restarted my computer and the mouse was completely non-functional (no power / dead). I had to unplug the mouse from the USB port and restart my computer and then plug the mouse back into the same properly functioning USB port, and only then was it detected again.

These ridiculous clumsy inept software conflict errors make Razer products unnecessarily cumbersome to deal with.

My Basilisk V3 wired mouse suddenly stopped working, my laptop can’t see the device, synapse can’t see it, device manager can’t see it, firmware updater can’t see it… Basically there is no electricity power it receives when i plug it in. I didn’t drop my mice or something, it was perfectly fine yesterday night.

I tried every method you can think of, sleep mode PC fix, uninstalling usb drivers, updates, re installing synapse, everything. It just feels like my mouse is dead on the inside for no reason.

When i first bought it, without any drivers or synapse, it would still get the RGB light going on and my PC would detect a new device. But now, there is no power inside my mouse. No light.

Nothing happens when i plug it in or out, it just looks DEAD. And yes i tried different usb ports but not a different PC yet.

How am i gonna fix this?

I appreciate what you’ve already done to resolve the ongoing mouse concern on your end. Allow me to help you submit a case if you haven’t created one yet by sending me a PM, including your device’s serial number, name, email address, contact number, and country.

To everyone experiencing the same issue, please submit a case by sending me a private message so I can help you forward a ticket to our Support Team. Thanks for your cooperation.

The same thing happened to me. My Basilisk v3 all of a sudden STOPPED working, after almost two years, on account of - if it did not itself generate- a BSOD. WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. I tried restarting the PC, nothing. The mouse would simply not work. The RGB lights keep blinking, and there is a physical sound inside the mouse, probably the freewheel spin toggle. I connect it, disconnect it, same thing. I reinstalled Synapse 3, it can’t see it. Stranely enough, I can move the cursor for a split second, at the same interval that it blinks. But oddly, Windows doesn’t seem to see the mouse in device manager, which is bonkers. It seems to be entirely a software issue, right? It probably got stuck inside a loop because of that BSOD, or it might have even caused it… What should I do?!

Hi, did you solve the issue? Mine is completely the same

Something else you all can try, that just might narrow down the culprit. I’ve noticed that there is a BIOS setting, on certain motherboards, called: ErP Ready. If you try switching it to a different setting, then save and exit BIOS… sometimes… the mouse will power on. You may actually have to unplug it and then re-plug it back in once Windows fully boots.

This leads me to think that the mouse isn’t getting proper power from the get-go. It does not matter which USB ports you try.

@SunsetOrangetalkfirst931

We have yet to solve anything (as far as technical troubleshooting goes). Dale PM’d me because he was no longer allowed to post publicly, but he was still able to send direct messages to other users (the same also happened to me, until I PM’d a couple of moderators). I’ll admit that I was using unfavorable language, due to my frustration and tech support wasn’t taking these issues seriously. We both had suspected that we were placed under a gag order. Nevertheless, his last message to me was that he was in communication with tech support and they offered to replace his unit. That’s the last that I’ve heard from Dale. So I took it upon my own to keep fighting the good fight.

I have also gone through the RMA process (which is a horror novel that I’m currently in the process of writing), and I can report that my replacement unit is also behaving in the same exact manner… Just about ALL of the Basilisk V3s are malfunctioning in some way, shape, or form… All of Razer’s peripherals are acting faulty… This forum is full of users asking for aid.

I’m not even going to bother with asking for another RMA because the entire process was grueling, only to be sent another defective unit.

If you look in the following thread by user @anzepintar

^ They reporting an interesting USB connection error.

I hate to post and not have anything good or helpful for anyone that has posted so far and has asked for a solution. I unfortunately am here just to add to the horror of being an owner of Razer merchandise. This is embarrassing to admit but in the past two and half years i have bought two headsets (Razer Nari  Ultimate and Razer Kraken Pro) two keyboards (Razer Huntsman V3 Pro and Razer Blackwidow v4 Pro) and both the Razer Basilisk Ultimate and the notorious Razer Basilisk V3 Pro both of the which did the exact same thing that is happening to everyone on this post. Worked one night next day stopped working, no power, no fixes with in Windows 11 did  anything nor did any fix on the Razer software side fix anything. I guess I am stupid for having a mouse and keyboard stop working and having problems with both headsets and still buying more products made by the same company. I like my RGB to be synced and ill admit Razer had the best lighting and software to control it and it got me hooked into buying from them to keep my lights seamlessly connected without any tweaking or  downloading  more software. I have spent almost $1000 with Razer and all i have to show for it is one headset that doesn't stay charged for any reasonable amount of time and has a shotty mic that everyone i am in a game with complains about from time to time and a keyboard that i have to keep buying new cords for and keep having to reset and download the firmware for. I am having to resort to using a Logitech mouse that i have had for five years that still works. It doesnt have rgb lighting and doesnt have any extra buttons but i can depend on it to complete work assignments and not end up dead while i sleep at night. I do have some sort of positive thing to say about the issue or at least about the gentlemens comments about it not being able to handle a system change like a new name for the pc. I agree with this statement because coincidentally i changed my Windows from the home edition to the Pro edition the night before my mouse stopped working so i definitely see a connection there. I am not going to put the blame on any user or Windows either for the issue because we known should have to worry about our mouse that costs $200 to stop working over something simple as that or at least not be able to be fixed easily. I dont know if this is true or not but someone recently told me that Razer had been purchased by another company and if its not the pandemic that caused it to start manufactoring trash and putting its name on it then the company we all used to depend on for quality items has been sold to another company that decided to manufacture crap and put a bow on it for us!  Sorry i didnt have more productive or helpful information to give everyone. Im in the same boat as you all are and I stupidly stayed on it when i noticed a leak  about a year ago but instead bought myself another spot on it. Good luck to everyone that is looking to get their stuff fixed. Warning to anyone that is thinking of buying anything from them in the future! Buyer Beware!

I felt the same at first. However when more of us speak out to alert & caution others, then that’s the most helpful thing that anyone can do.

I’m distressed & drained of the entire situation. I’m never buying another razer product. Their tech support process is inept & incompetent. No one would understand it, unless they themselves have ever endured it. The RMA process is equivalent to a spoon-and-egg-race, they drop it while approaching the finish line (lost in transit). Even this webforum looks & feels like a cheap back alley message board from 2003, and there is an obvious reason why the upper tier tech support personnel (the ones who email you with a 24 hour time limit) are not responding to the countless threads on here.

This is the exact same issue that happened to me today. red blinking light, power comes in and out, clicking, sometimes can move the cursor. I tried it on two different windows devices, same issue. I uninstalled synapse on both devices. Both computers also wouldn’t respond to clicks or scrolling from either the touchpad or a different (non razer) wired mouse. I had to restart both computers to get it working. My theory is the mouse was somehow holding the usb ports hostage, even after being disconnected!

I was in the middle of a game and my mouse was working perfectly and then it just stopped working. I had to switch it to bluetooth and it won’t connect back to the little usb chip i have plugged into my pc

Smittenleetbox164

Same. Just stopped working out of nowhere and no amount of reinstalling drivers or replugging will fix this. Sayonara Razer, it was first and last thing I bought from you.

Lucky you I bout the chair, headphones+stand, mat, keyboard x2, mousex2, and tower case. Im pissed I gotta grab my Ol’ reliable Logitech mouse again from out the closet of 5+ years.

I have all the above problems with my Basilisk V3 mouse. Thank god I found this forum thread. I’m still able to return this crap and get my money back. Razer just lost another costumer...no more products from them. Think i’m going to buy a logitech instead.

A product for gamers from gamers what load of BS….

My Razer Basilisk V3 just suddenly went dead. Same as many other users here, the RGB lights just goes off, the tiny red light under the mouse is blinking, and if u put the mouse near your ear, u will hear a faint clicking sound as if the auto scroll gets engaged and disengaged non-stop. Razer tech support please tell us what the heck is going on?

Same problem with Basilisk V3 , it’s clear a hardware problem so same problem on other pc too. It’s clear that quatlity is too poor

Yesterday, when I pushed the free mode button for the scroll wheel the mouse started to have the same problem many people have been saying about the mouse disconnecting over and over and being able to move it for a second. I assumed it was because of the windows update that I had yesterday, but since my warranty is up on the mouse anyways I opened it up to snoop around. I realized that if the scroll wheel is connected to the board when you plug it in, to the USB the problem occurs. If you happen to have it plugged in to the USB and THEN plug the scroll wheel in to the board then it works just fine. UNTIL you restart your computer or unplug it from the computer. Then it goes back to the blinking with the clicking. Has anyone determined if it is a software issue or a hardware issue? The mouse is capable or working if you jump through all those hoops, which makes me believe that it is not hardware related. But also, let’s be honest, nobody has the time or patience for that. I am curious if it will magically fix itself with an update/patch. Thanks for reading this and any help is much appreciated.

My Basilisk V3 scroll wheel stopped working completely. Many of the threads I have seen about the Basilisk issues have been locked by support staff and I am starting to think that Razer does not want to acknowledge any issues with the Basilisk.
