I was playing a game when I felt some pressure on the left side of my head, took off my headset to see the Headband end snapped off, and flew somewhere in my room and I can’t find it. unsure what to do because the headset’s not ever a year old

What do you mean by ,“headband end snapped off.” Do you mean the plastic hinge that connects the metal frames to the headband?

Exactly that. The little end plastic bit which houses the metal connection from the ear phones to the headband

Yeah, I have the same issue and from what I can find, its not an uncommon one. The plastic holding the hinge together is of really poor quality, I don't know if its a headset-wide issue or if its just defective batch that got set out. I'm not exactly sure was causes the hinge to break in the way that it does but I think it may be a result of a internal components getting wedged in between something when the earcup twists. The fact that yours got flung across the room when it snapped does suggest there was quite a lot of tension before it broke.

I'm currently going through the warranty claim so it would really help me out if you could answer a few questions.

  1. Was the broken hinge on left or right side of the headset?
  1. Was it the inner part of the hinge or the outer part that broke off?
  1. Do you know exactly how long you had the headset for before it broke?

Also have you managed to resolve the issue with razer yet? if you have can you please let me know how you did it. If not ill be happy to share with you what I know.

The hinge broke off on the right side, used it for as long as I could until the left also gave out.

It was the outer part is what broke off, the inner piece was fully intact.

According to Amazon, I purchased it in late August, so now it's just slightly over 8 months, it broke when I posted this issue at the 6 month mark

I have not managed to solve my issue with razer, was never able to get in contact with support in the past 2 months, ended up buying a steel series headset

That is very similar to what happened to mine. It was also the right hinge that broke except it was inner part that snapped rather then the outer part. I only had mine for 45 days before the hinge failed, which is around the two month mark headsets with this defect tend to last. So keeping them alive for 4 more months is quite an achievement.

That sucks to hear about your experience with razer support. But you are alone, no one I have spoken with seems to have had a positive experience with the support helpline. If only razer’s customer support team was as good as their marketing team.

If you still have your Blackshark headset, I have found a place online selling replacement hinges:

Gen 2 2023 Edition Replacement Plastic Razer Blackshark V2 X X USB Pro - Etsy UK

I presume you have the 2023 version as I'm not sure these will work on the 2020 one's. Apparently these one are custom made so they are free from the original’s design flaw. I have not brought them myself so I don't know how good they actually are but the reviews look good, although it seems that you will have to do a bit of DIY to get them to work. It might be an option worth considering if you to want try and salvage the investment you made on on these headphones.

Also did you get the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 by any chance? if so, how are you enjoying them so far? When buying my headset, I was stuck between the Nova 7 and the blackshark. In the end, I went with the blackshark, a decision I now sorely regret. I am now considering buying these to replace my blackshark, so I would love to hear your opinion on them.

Wrote a whole message and website decided not to send... TWICE lol.

I purchased an 'SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless Gaming Headset' off Amazon for $120CAD. My brother's GF had this headset for 4 years before it died on her, so pretty good bang for your buck.

The quality is pretty good, just gotta wait for the headset to get used to my head shape, but the mic could use some work. Overall a really solid headset for its price

Seems like this thread does not like me typing very much. I got Arctis 1 series, quality is good. I would explain more on discord if possible for more details
