Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro Key Not working

The D key on my keyboard rarely is detecting input. Maybe 1 every 50 attempts.

I have tried

  • cleaning it with compressed air
  • removed the key, no debris found
  • updating all drivers
  • plugging the keyboard into another pc

Any advice or ideas on how to fix this? The keyboard is only a few months old.

I’m having the same problems as above on my Blackwidow v4 X. But my issue is usually the ‘o’ and ‘e’ keys. The keyboard often freezes too mid sentence writing and if I was unlucky enough to have pressed a key at the same time it continues to duplicate it until the keyboard either a) resets or b) I unplug it and plug it back in.

I use my keyboard on multiple devices for work, study and gaming, and I know Razer stated that the keyboard may not work correctly if plugged in through a dock, so I attempted to run it directly into my laptop and PC and there was no change at all. Same issues, same missing keys, and same freezing. I’ve also out of frustration this morning gave the keyboard a good ‘Whack’ as it was mentioned as a possible fix, but the only thing it did was help relieve my frustration.

At this point it is much too late to send back as I bought the keyboard over the Christmas break 2023/2024, but I will never buy a Razer product again after the amount of unanswered/ignored issues surrounding this and the cost of an out of box faulty product. It still begs the question though: If so many people are having the same problem why hasn’t a fix been issued?

How is this still happening.  This has happened to me with almost every Razer keyboard across multiple systems for several years.  I’ve had multiple keyboard replacements, tried buying from Razer direct, tried removing it from demo mode, tried updating firmware, updated all software repeatedly...I want to exclusively buy Razer Peripherals and now that I’m finally fed up with this V3 (I’ve been nursing it along through missed key presses for over a year) I was super hoping maybe if I just buy the V4 they will have fixed the problem.  The V4 is in my cart.  But after seeing this I guess I’m going with Asus or Steelseries until Razer figures out how to make a keyboard that correctly registers key presses.  How are they actually still in business????

I bought a blackwidow v4 pro late last year and had the space bar miss some key strokes. Went through the recommended process and eventually razer mailed me a new one. Now this one I’m having the same problem with my ‘w’ key. so frustrating. I have my old hunstman elite, deathadder elite for years without problems. I think its this generation of keyboard that is just so problematic.

I am on the second keyboard from the support team and the same issue is happening on this new one with in the first month of working with it.

I want to chime in! I bought the yellow keys v4 pro and then the green key v4 pro. The yellow one “D” key became unresponsive every 20 clicks within 2 weeks of owning. I sold it and bought the green key thinking maybe that keyboard was bad apple. Nope! The green keyboard just started giving me the same issues, but on the “A” key after ONE MONTH! I play Rocket League and as most games require multiple pressing of WASD keys. I literally couldn’t turn my car right on the yellow key and now I can’t turn left on the green key keyboard. First and last time buying Razer products. The most expensive keyboard on the market and this is absolutely unacceptable. All this super cool LED colors with a nice, comfy wrist pad, but what’s the point when the WASD is absolute trash!

Since you've already tried cleaning, updating drivers, and testing on another PC, here are a few more steps to consider:

1. **Check keyboard settings** and language.
2. **Test in Safe Mode** to rule out software conflicts.
3. **Try an external keyboard** to see if the issue persists.
4. **Check for firmware updates** from the manufacturer.
5. **Contact manufacturer support** for a possible replacement if the keyboard is under warranty.

If none of these work, it might be a hardware defect, and you should consider getting a replacement.

a good whack on the part with malfunctioning keys kinda works but it is temporary

the sad thing is, is that we all posting about how trash these keyboards have become and no one from Razer has repliedd with anything relevant to this issue besides, is your keyboard updated, is synapse updated, have you restarted your computer, have you reinstalled synapse. and funny thing is, is that the keyboard works better without synapse enabled….

anyways change your polling rate very high and test and do the same with it being low. very high to me feels a little better but who tf wants the polling rate at 8000Hz all the time and it still doesnt entirely fixes the issue

so ive seen some people saying their keys are not working besides smashing on it and the keys double or triple spamming on a single keystroke. both are what I assume to be the same issue. trash keyboards and trash customer retension rates

and yes, firmware is updated on keyboard, synapse is updated, did full fresh install with all app engines closed, keyboard is connected on 3.0 usb straight to motherboard, even tried synapse beta, didnt work, issue just came out of no where without me changing anything, yes cleaned keyboardd, no i aint gonna spray WD-40 on switches, yes keyboards works better without any synapse enabled/installed, no havent RMA keyboard bc others had already and nothing comes out of it besides “your keyboard has no issues” lets send a new one, and the new one has the same issue.

Just got the Razer Blackwidow V4 2 days ago(18Jul24). Realized that
dot and enter key is notworking properly.
The dot(fullstop) key beside the right shift worked after I reset pressing "ESC"+"Caps"+Spacebar. however the responds is not as responsive as other keys.
While typing this I realised that the "c" key also acting weird. Pressing Shift+C, may sometime not work.

The Enter key above the right SHIFT key is not working at all. Pressing them down will not even carriage return to the next line.

Something weired:
Went into STUDIO and reassigned the Dot and Enter key with the earlier assigned color key and it seems the delayed or unworking key starts to work.
Same goes for the M6 macro key, it works again.
The "C" is working again, after going thru the STUDIO color assignment again.

The Enter key above the right Shift is now working properly.

Hope this help users to have fun with the Razer BlackWidow V4, or BlackWidow keyboard.

Cheers.

Well I had my Razer Widow X V4 for just over 3 months and now the ‘e’ key is playing up. I press it and around 1 out of 4 times it doesn’t register and I the letter ‘e’ doesn’t appear. Even typing this message it happens. I even tried the suggestion of altering the ‘e’  Chroma config for the problem key and it doesn’t work.
