Hey everyone! We've changed servers a few times already. We're currently investigating and planning to improve our back end. Please submit a case so our devs team can track all our affected users and get data samples from your devices and help the investigation.

At least you managed to recover the system and flushed the BIOS settings to default. Should perhaps return the non-functioning RAM sticks back to the seller, or just sell it off to recover some of the funds.

Yes I've sent the upgraded RAM back to the seller, they did work but just not with stability in this laptop, very frustrating. I just want to know which 64Gb sticks will work in this machine, without sacrificing performance!

Personally I used the exact same sticks as yours (2 x 32GB at 3200MHz), but I'm using the smaller 15-inch Advanced model.

I have noticed that HyperX Impact does come in 2933MHz variants too, though I'm not exactly sure on the compatibility.

I read someone else's comments in this thread regarding the 2933mhz and unfortunately they saw the same issues as with the 3200mhz, very frustrating! It seems that Samsung is the only set of sticks which work with stability, but they're so expensive. This laptop should be able to handle compatible RAM, but it just doesn't seem to!

Any updates with anyone? Currently looking to get 64GB of the fastest best RAM and not finding any results that aren't conflicting...

I've tried 3 different sets of the 64GB hyperx 2933mhz and 1 set of the 64GB hyperx 3200mhz. Had more success with the 3200mhz modules but games still crashed. My laptop is now being RMA'd. Will update when I get it back.

Interesting that you've sent off the laptop when this actually seems to be a standard issue, not one just affecting your machine? They don't need your laptop to diagnose this, they could use any Razer 17 Pro so I'm afraid to say that you may have wasted your time sending it off.

Do let us know the outcome!

@pongwon any update?

No good news. It feels like they didn't read the letter I submitted with the RMA or all the cases I've opened. They replaced the screen saying it was flicking (I don't recall issues with the screen). When I got it back to swap out the memory I found the wireless antenna cables weren't plugged in.

Anyways to the memory issue. The system came back with bios v1.06. Putting back the hyperx 64gb 3200 modules still crashed when gaming. I also tried the 2933 xmp profile. Same issue. It seems to crash when the GPU is under load. So still no success. The 16gb modules still run stable though.

Not sure what else to try now. I know games don't need 64 gigs of ram but I'm trying to use this system for other creative work as well.

Still waiting on some answers on my support ticket

Hey there! I've re-escalated your laptop's concern. I've sent you a PM with the new case number.

I'm rather curious, if I may ask, what game(s) were played that led to this crash?

Battlefield 5 and Flight Sim 2020, they'll play for 15-30 minutes or so, and then just terminate or the laptop freezes. This doesn't happen at all with stock RAM.

Has there been an update?

I contacted Razor support to no avail. At first, they said all 2933MHz 64GB (2x32) DDR4 160 Pin sticks will work. Then I pointed them to this and the below threads and support said they couldn't help, nor give any other advice. Rather disappointing.

threads I'm tracking with this issue:

Can we get some support help from Razor?

There continues to be 64GB RAM issues, can we get some help on this? Razor seems to be quite deaf on this issue.

I bought https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0848NL2BQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2x32GB HyperX 2933/CL17 DDR4 RAM at 2933

  • With no bios changes did not work
  • With XMP profile 1 did not work
  • With XMP profile 2 (which lowers 2933 to 2666) did work and has been stable for nearly a week

What is "did not work" for me was the inability to run at 2933 and:

  • pass Windows 10 Memory Test, it failed to reboot into windows
  • run 6 x Docker containers (each with 2GB of RAM)
  • run WSL instances (ubuntu, 16GB memory per instance)

When I did the above tests I saw the Blue screens of death either immediately or within 10 minutes.

My personal opinion

There is no proof the 4k Pro can run 64GB of RAM at 2933, and significant evidence across many threads that 2666 does work with XMP Profile 2.

My suggestion

Is for Razer to admit this publicly and change their marketing to only running 64GB at 2666 or at least let us know how to achieve 2933.

My next steps

I might not be Razers target market, nevertheless, my experience with this Razer laptop made me decided to purchase ~50 Dells and continue with MacBook Pros for Software Engineers at my company. They also run in 2666, but at least this is honest and public. Razer's marketing and poor support around 64GB @ 2933 removed my trust in them.

guys, check out this post on another thread:
