Razer laptop cooling pad shutting off Samsung Ultrabook 4 display

DASBEAN

I … don’t understand this, at all.

Just got the new cooling pad, and when I place my laptop on the styrofoam padding, the display shuts off. Pick it up, move to a different service, move to my old cooling pad … no issues. As soon as I place it on the cooling pad, display shuts off.

Doesn’t matter if the pad is on or off, same result.

What the heck?

Thanks

There’s a magnet under the frame that may be interfering with Samsung ultrabook display (yes, there’s also magnet in laptop to know if the display lid is closed or not)

I have to assume this is going to be an issue with many laptops out there. I hope I’m missing something here, but this feels like it will be problematic for many.

I got the same issue like you with my samsung ultra book 4 as well. The solution i got is cover your laptop with a laptop case cover and move your laptop one level higher so the bottom far away from the magnet.

Same issue with my MSI GS77.  I am hoping I can find some magnet shielding tape or something to put on the bottom of the laptop near the sensor if I can figure out where it is.  For now, if I shift my laptop off center about 1CM everything is fine.  The real strange thing is I told windows to do nothing when the laptop lid is closed but it still turns off the screen and stuff when I close the lid.
