Previously I had a kraken 7.1 and I also own a Cynosa KB, a mamba tournament Mouse & a Hammerhead BT.
After two days of using the Nari I started noticing this problems for which I contacted support through Twitter wondering if they know about any known fix for what could possibly be a known issue, they weren't of much help (mind that I performed extensive troubleshooting on my own) I'm gonna disclose the T-shooting steps per issue as best I can remember.
- Headset not charging... properly:
Out of the box it didn't charge by connecting it to a USB brick (my phone's, which is new, acquired a month back) It gets a faint red light when connected to the brick, left it overnight, doesn't charge, then I attempted to charge it via the laptop's USB= same result.
3 Different USB power bricks = Same result, faint light, no charge.
5 USB cables tested= same result
Different USB port in different computers (3 others) = Same result.
Solution? = Connecting the headset via USB along the 3.5mm cable, both cables must be connected for it to charge and show a red bright LED ending with a bright green LED after a few hours. Is this normal? New firmware release required from razer? Imagine the complication... clearing a USB port, juggling two cables, just to get the thing to charge for its next use...
- Cracking/robotic Mic noise:
This particular issue, I started knowing about it even before getting the Nari, A friend recently got a Nari as well and we noticed the problem first with him while gaming using discord.
My friend & Razer's twitter support suggested A Firmware update which brings to Issue 3.(read on)
Uninstalled Synapse & Win Registry removal & drivers removed: Clean synapse reinstall = Same issue.
Tested headset(mic) on other PCs = Same result
Different voice chats tested: Steam, discord, skype = same result
Clean Boot/startup apps removal= Same issue.
Thinking it could be a software issue, started tweaking Synapse settings.
Solution: Turning Ambient Noise reduction OFF in synapse = the issue stopped while gaming/chatting with friends over voice chats with this mic enhancement off.
- Firmware updater not detecting the headset:
The friend with Issue 2. suggested I do a firmware update to the headset since he noticed there was an update for it. So I tried.
The steps in the updates are: Connect the dongle, and once detected it requests the headset to be connected= headset not detected.
5 USB cables tested = same result
Solution = Connecting the headset with BOTH, the usb cable & the 3.5mm cable, it gets the headset detected by the updater. Update not required, Latest version already installed from factory.
- THX not starting up / not working:
I like to use speakers during the day, headset at night....neighbors...
For this transition I have to change the Default audio device in windows from speakers to THX Spatial-Synapse.
When using a full screen app ( with somewhat resource exclusivity) it won't allow the change to happen, The audio will get routed to the headset, but it won't be THX, but stereo.
Solution= Exit app & attempt change, if not, restart PC so the THx process loads properly along with the headset & windows default device. Not seamless at all.
- Bass lowers/ overwhelms other audio:
When gaming, watching a movie, or music even, And there's a heavy bassy noise it lowers the rest of the audio (voices, effects, etc) making it quite an annoying and uneven experience since the ups and downs are quite noticeable.
Synapse settings tweaking = Same result.
Solution = I don't have one, workaround: Turn Sound normalization off in enhancements helps and lowering the deep/bassy freq in the EQ, but still quite noticeable.
Razer support, Help? solutions? release fixes pls?
For a product that is bit over a month old and I have to keep Tshooting/ juggling workarounds everyday since the second day of getting it to make it work, it clearly isn't a plug and play device, I'm dissatisfied with it, even though I love the brand, but I just can't recommend this product to anyone.
Can i return it? Can I get a refund/giftcard?
I dunno gimme a solution please....
