Razer Synapse Service Process.exe preventing windows shutdown and restart

Userlevel 1

I’m using Windows 11 and when I go to shutdown or restart my pc, I get a message saying “app preventing shutdown (or restart) of pc”. If I let it sit there for like 10-15 seconds longer, it’ll show an error with Razer Synapse Service Process.exe.

I looked up the error and questionable sources say it’s the .NET framework in Windows except I have no other issues with any other game or application on my PC. I used the .NET framework repair tool as well as reinstalled the .NET framework. I also fully removed and reinstalled Razer Synapse 3 from my pc. This would fix the problem for 1-2 days then it the error would return when I tried to shutdown or restart the pc.

I also ran sfc /scannow and CHKDSK with no visible problems. I can force shutdown or restart when this happens and there doesn’t seem to be an issue with the computer. Also Synapse 3 works no problem on the pc, only errors when trying to shutdown or restart.

I’ve included an image of the error that pops up. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @RUBYsmartSlimyGreen957,

Thanks for reporting this problem. Please PM me the Synapse version so I can kickstart a case and gather other necessary information and escalate your concern to the software team so they can look into this.

Thanks Zionzedd, I’ve sent you a PM with the Synapse version. For anyone else, it’s version 20230323

Hey @silv3rRav3n , @Ryiix and @feverpolyCharcoal998

Try removing and reinstalling Razer Synapse 3 using the method in this article

https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1708

Not the video but if you expand the text under Select Razer Synapse version for Synapse 3, it will give detailed instructions on removing and reinstalling Synapse 3.

I didn’t bother gathering the Synapse logs but you can if you want. Also when I reinstalled Synapse 3 I didn’t install Chroma Connect, Chroma Visualizer or Chroma Studio, just Razer Synapse. I also kept my Razer keyboard and mouse plugged in but unplugged my Kraken headset and Wolverine v2 controller before reinstalling.

Follow the steps and make sure not to sign into Synapse until it tells you to in the instructions. When I did this, my Synapse version updated to 20230330.

So far I haven’t had the issue pop back up for about 1 day. Might possibly come back but so far it hasn’t been showing the error when I shutdown or restart the pc.

Try that and see if it helps.

So yeah it came back after about 2 days. I doubt it’s my .NET framework as I have no other issues on the PC, just Razer Synapse. Still awaiting a response after I submitted my logs and information.

I just decided to uninstall Razer Synapse 3 from my PC and I’ll be looking at other brands for my mice, keyboard and headsets moving forward.

The support from my case that was opened has been abysmal and changed people 3-4 times asking basic questions and no follow-ups. I don’t care about THX spatial for my headset, I’ll just use Dolby Atmos for Headphones instead.

Buggy software where we’re expected to be their beta testers. No thanks.

Same problem since a while. Is there any working solution from support, yet?

I have the exact same issue. It's annoying.

Just to add I'm pretty sure the issue is the Nari Ultimate Headset but I also have the Huntsman Tournament edition and Basilisk Ultimate. My PC is on Win 11

Why do do you think it’s the Nari Ultimate causing the problem?

I got the same combo with the Basilisk Ultimate with the Nari Ultimate but with an Ornata V2 Keyboard.

I upgraded my SSD and did a brand new clean install of Windows 11. I also changed and upgraded my RAM. The error still persists.

I’m using the Razer Kraken Ultimate headset, Ornata V2 keyboard, Razer Basilisk V3 mouse. Is anyone else using those devices? Could potentially be one or more of them causing the issue with Synapse and Windows. I’m worried the error will interfere with Windows updates when it requires a restart.

I don’t know to be honest and I don’t really have the time to debug it. I’m sure there are a lot more people with this issue who don’t realize it’s from Synapse and are just ignoring it. Maybe if more people post they will look into it.

My Razer Peripherals are the Ornata V2, the Basilisk Ultimate with the mouse dock chroma, the nari ultimate and the goliathus extended chroma.

I noticed Synapse was constantly using like 12-14% CPU and memory at idle. I ended up removing it again and I think I’ll just use my hardware without Synapse going forward.

I am having same issue for a while now. Seems like it started when I got the Nari Ultimate headset. Currently I have the Nari Ultimate headset, Kraken Tournament edition headset, huntsman elite keyboard, nommo chroma speakers, and base station v2.

Same issue here… Windows 11, latest synapse

Same exact issue. Using the most recent build of razor synapse. Razor nari essential 7.1 wireless. Reinstalled already even made sure that net was up to date. I think I'll just be switching brands as well. This only started recently for me.

Hi
have same problem. No solution found

Same Problem here.

I’m using Windows 10 Home, Version 22H2, Systembuild 19045.3271 and
Razer Synapse Version 3.8.731.72514 (Razer Central says Version 20230731)

My Razerproducts are Deathadder Elite, Blackwidow Chroma V2, Leviathan V2 and the Kraken Tournament Edition.

All Drivers and Softwares are up to date.

Exact same issue here too…

Kraken Headset, Hex Naga v2 mouse, Cynosa v2 keyboard. Uninstalled, re-installed, good for a couple of days, then right back again. Done this 3 times now.

Given up trying to get profiles to launch automatically with games.

same problem for months - just reinstalled windows due to other instability and within a few days the razer problem has recurred. Windows 10. Going to uninstall synapse as I only have the headset and it seems to work fine without the razer software

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Razor Synapse/Axon/Cortex program without success.  I still get the same message when shutting down or restarting.

Same error but it's axon. Uninstalled axon only and now error free. You guys at razer need to get your shit together.
