Synapse resets fans to manual on Razer Advanced 15" 2019

Title pretty much says it all. Seems like every time I install a new version of Synapse, my computer just constantly runs the fans at high speed (sometimes even when it's supposedly sleeping!) I check processes and nothing is running, and it's not remotely warm. Then go into Synapse and see it's set to "manual fan control" and set to the highest. I change it back to auto, things are good. And then a month later the same thing happens. This has repeated at least 4 times for me now, seems like a trivial fix, don't change that setting! (in fact, why would MANUAL be the default anyway!?)
