Tartarus thumbstick with World of Warcraft

I’ve been using Orbweaver for years but the thumbstick started to chatter (repeat keystrokes) so I figured it was time to replace it. I bought a Razer Tartarus Pro instead.

I am a World of Warcraft player. My problem now is figuring out how to strafe forward (i.e. move diagonally forward). I’ve mapped W, Q, E, S to the front, left, right and backwards buttons of the thumbstick respectively and that works fine. But how do I bind the front-left and front-right directions on the stick?

I tried different approaches, such as making macros that send say, W+Q keypresses while the thumb direction is held down but it’s very… jerky (it makes my character look like he’s having seizures :) ).

How should this be configured to work properly? I’d appreciate ideas. Surely there are WoW players out there using Tartarus Pro who needed the same movement in their thumbstick.

Thanks!

Have you made any progress on this? I also was hoping to use the thumbstick as a replacement for WASD movement and the diagonals just don’t work. I found some threads from years ago stating people could put the stick in 4 direction mode and assign the keys and the software will “automatically” press both keys with the diagonal. It does not work, tried in multiple games. Diagonals just do nothing. Think they changed the software.

Love lots of other things about it, but this is one of the main reasons I got it.

Actually update here, it does work. The fix from years ago. Computer needed a full restart after the changes, but confirmed diagonals now automatically picking up the inputs from the adjust keys without even assigning.

I would still love for Razer to make a full 360 analog stick one day, but for now those are for modders, older tech (ironic), and Azerons.

Did you do anything to make it work? Because I’ve restarted the PC several times since I started using the Tartarus, and the diagonals still do not work for me.

Okay, pretty sure I figured it out. So I went back in and started remapping things and it broke, then I narrowed it down to what exactly breaks it. Even without changing any key mapping at all, simply changing the stick from 4-way to 8-way broke it, even if I put it back on 4-way. It must freak out Windows or something. Nothing I did, including restarting Razer Synapse, would fix it. Only a full computer restart. So what you have to do is make sure your profile is saved on 4-way with the keys you want and restart and don’t flip the config of the stick. Maybe don’t even open the program lol

I fixed it, with Razer support’s help.

Basically they sent me a small patch for Synapse 3. It had to be applied after killing off all its processes from the Task Manager, and I needed to reboot after. Once that was done I can use diagonals in WoW.

So kudos to support but man… please fix Synapse 3 Razer! It’s so bad. :)

Yeah, the software can easily make or break the hardware. I’m glad they were able to help. Where can you get the patch? I want to make sure my software is updated as well.

Razer Support sent me a URL and I downloaded and ran it from there. Not sure why whatever config change that makes to the driver isn’t part of Synapse.

Honestly, it should just be included if it’s a hotfix. Just make an official patch and have everyone’s software updated lol.

Are you able to supply said link to the patch? I have been pulling my hair out over this issue trying to work out what was wrong….

hi, whats the patch pls , cant make it work with the eight postion thumbstick in cataclysm classic

I have had no luck with Razer support, they just keep looping round the same requests for system info, looping me through different teams, and false claims of fixed in the latest update…. please post the patch you received….
