Using the Core X Chroma with Intel Core Ultra Processors and Windows 11 version 23H2 | Razer Insider

Hello all,

Question:  Have the latest Intel Core Ultra Processors and Windows 11 version 23H2 been tested  as compatible with the Razer Core X Chroma?

I recently upgraded to a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 12.  My Core X Chroma, which worked fine with my earlier Lenovos now gives me blue screens of death on boot up.  I have tried 2080, 3060 and 4070 graphics cards and active and passive Thunderbolt 4 cables (1m length).  The cables don’t seem to have much effect, but the 2080 usually boots up (but the system will eventually lock up at some random time after boot; maybe minutes, maybe hours).  The 3060 and 4070 both crash at boot and won’t ever come up unless I unplug the Chroma.

Curiously, when I check for attached devices, I don’t see any thunderbolt devices listed as being attached, even though, in the case of the 2080 card, I can see the card when I check the display options. I even tried the Intel Thunderbolt Control Center, which says no devices are attached, even when I can definitely see the 2080.

I’ve been working with Lenovo for the last month, and we’ve run out of ideas.  We even swapped out the motherboard.  They asked me to find out the answer to the question I’ve posted here, as the Gen 12 Carbon is the first generation to use these processors.

Lenovo finally released a bug fix for “Thunderbolt 4 timing.”  It didn’t solve the problem, but crashing is down to once every few hours.  My fix is to only power up the eGPU when I need the graphics card (games, CAD, etc).
