Hi there. I have a quick question about the Core X Chroma before I buy a graphics card for it. I’d read on the compatibility list on the store page that it supports the Radeon RX 6900XT, but what I’d like to know is if it’ll also support the RX 6950 as well, since that was the card I had in mind.

It is basically external graphics enclosure as long it can powered the power demand and fit into the cassis it should be working. For more details maybe you can check on Egpu enthusiast forum like egpu.io or Egpu subreddit on egpu io I think you can check the Egpu build samples provided by users, to find if there’s similar setting with your egpu plan.

Roger that.

One more question.

I have an HP Envy laptop from 2022, and it has Intel integrated graphics (Iris Xe, I believe). I would like to make sure it’s compatible with the Core X Chroma before I buy anything.

Not all HP envy laptops have USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 or more capable.

What is SKU and Processor? (Type in windows search and msinfo32, then it will show System SKU and CPU)

  1. Bear in mind even if a HP envy has USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 capable. If it is a lower end CPU then pairing with high end GPU will only cause CPU bottleneck i.e. GPU will be held back by CPU, so no matter how much you spend on GPU it won't perform any better. Depends on what games/applications you intend to use for as well as results will vary. https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2591/~/at-a-glance%3A-razer-core-x-%7C-rc21-01310
  2. RX 6950 not listed as compatible. But article may be out of date, so best to verify with Razer support. As Razer Core X has been out a while and may not have up to date information.
  3. Also check the dimensions of intended RX6950 specs purchase against dimensions size to be able to physically fit inside Razer Core X (in above URL)

Thank you.

Concerning the laptop: SKU is 549V1AV, and it has a Core i7 processor. Intended use is for Blender 3D work.

Looks like your model does indeed have 2x USB-C Thunderbolt 4. If want to check for sure then look for app called Thunderbolt Control Center, which is probably pre-installed in windows.

Once open click the 3 horizon lines top left to open another menu. Click "About" and it should mention in there somewhere "Thunderbolt 4". So is compatible with Razer Core X and your laptop.

Just those other 2 things mentioned before as well:

1.Whatever GPU you buy, make sure the dimensions do not exceed the physical size of the Razer Core X case which is below. RX690XT should fit but check the dimensions from whoever you buy the GPU from. Power requirements are already met.

Max inner dimensions
Length : 12.99”/ 330 mm
Height: 6.29” / 160 mm
Width : 2.36” / 60 mm

2.The above website lists compatible AMD GPUS. No mention of specifically RX6950XT. Can't see why not, but you should raise a sales query with Razer to be sure as maybe the GPU is too new and Razer Core X website link not updated yet to reflect this.

Compatible AMD graphics chipsets:
Radeon ™ RX 6600XT
Radeon ™ RX 6700XT
Radeon ™ RX 6800XT
Radeon ™ RX 6900XT
Radeon ™ RX 5000 Series
Radeon ™ RX Vega Series
Radeon ™ RX 500 Series
Radeon ™ R9 Series
Radeon ™ Pro Series
