Wolverine V3 pro disconnecting from USB

My controller has been randomly disconnecting despite being plugged in VIA USB. It does this with any usb cable in any USB port I try on the XBOX Series X. I’ve purchased a new cable, but when it disconnects mid-game, the only way to get the controller to connect again, is to pull the USB cable out of the controller and re-insert it. It’s been getting worse over time; and now disconnects very easily.

  • XBOX Series X
  • I don’t have a PC (Only XBOX, and MacBook).
  • I’ve reset the controller and settings. Doesn’t help, seems like it’s something wrong with the USB-C Port.

Sadly mine just started doing it and I’ve had it since November. I had the exact same issue with the V2, three different ones to be exact. Im very disappointed in Razr. Doesnt seem like they have even acknowledged this being an issue.

I’m experiencing the same problem as the two earlier posts. I’ve followed some suggested steps, but the issue persists for me as well. It’s clearly not an isolated case, and it would be great to get some official guidance or a fix. Please keep us updated-thanks!

I’ve contacted @Razer Admin and of course they are denying having heard anything about this issue, despite my argument for them to check their own blog comments and countless reports on Reddit and reviews on Amazon. My case has been “escalated” to tier 2 support, which pathetically is only handled through email…. I digress, Razer has never been known for excellent customer service, despite the cost of their products. I’m pretty disappointed as I’ve always been a huge advocate for the Wolverine series and sent countless people to Razer for new controllers. I expected better tbh but shame on me.

pretty sure it’s the latest firmware that’s caused the issue though. My issue didn’t start till I updated it and my buddy, who has not updated his, has had no issues. Could be coincidence though.

Also, mine has started disconnecting from the usb dongle too, as of today.

I went through their chat robot "support" suggestions and what seems to have helped at least temporarily with the USB cable disconnect issue, is to uninstall the driver via Device Manager on the PC.

However, since then I'm experiencing other weird issues such as: Profiles don't always load in the Razer Controller Setup app, creating a new profile is not possible (saving doesn't work), but even worse, actions are assigned to the multi-function buttons and I accidentally click them, messing up my gaming.

So yeah, looks like a big mess atm.

@Razer admins/support: PLEASE HELP!

This situation is making my controller basically unusable for gaming. I’ve tried all the official troubleshooting steps, but nothing fixes the new issues that started after following your support bot’s advice.

Is there any fix or workaround for these profile and button mapping problems? Is a patch coming?
I (and I’m sure many others) would really appreciate an urgent response or at least an update on when these issues will be resolved.

I’m working with them through email now. I’ll update you with the verdict!

Okay, so a week later, still playing email tag with their tech support, I have expressed how shitty it is that people pay this much for razer products but razer thinks so little of their customers that they, A TECH COMPANY, cannot even provide TECH SUPPORT via phone because this issue would have already been fixed or replacement shipped day one…… But I digress….  Their latest email, they wanted me to send my MSinfo log and my xbox firmware and shell number. That info has been sent…. now I am sure I will get another email sometime overnight (I assume not customer service is not in the US) … I recommend going ahead and reaching out to them and opening a ticket for the original issue so atleast they have another one on file as a complaint and the process to replace it is a long one. But don’t miss their response emails because they will close your ticket if don’t respond within 24 hours. I’ll update once I get their next response.

The more cases actually opened with a person and followed through, the more willing they will be to acknowledge the issue and find a fix. One thing I’ve learned over the years is Razer likes to over complicate troubleshooting, so people are like, screw it, ill but another one.

Since Razer support isn’t visiting this threat and providing support, I have opened a ticket as well.

In the meantime I have gone full circle: After uninstalling everything and installing fresh, the disconnection issue is back and this time it’s even worse, happening every 2 min or so.

I want to return the controller and get my money back.

Will keep you posted!

Honestly, I’m so beyond frustrated with Razer, I want to return mine as well. Several days ago, they finally got back to me and was like, “Something has gone wrong with your controller, so we will be replacing it. Stand by up to three business days for an email regarding your warranty”….. Finally got the email today to begin the actual replacement and I am supposed to be given the option to pay $200 for them to immediately send another one out, which will be refunded once my old one is received by them…. no surprise, they messed that up and only giving me the standard option which is mailing mine off, waiting for them to receive it, then wait for them to get around to testing it, and finally shipping out my replacement….. This company is by far, THE BEST  at dragging their feet and taking a dump on customers. So now to wait for them to fix my option to do advanced warranty (or give me some lame excuse as to why not). I LOVE RAZER CONTROLLERS, but I swear, after 10+ years of brand loyalty and recommending razer to everyone I possibly can, I will NEVER purchase another razer product again and I will tell everyone I can not to as well….not because my controller went bad...I get it, it happens…. but based on how Razer has handled this situation with no fecks to give. Honestly, I have a strong feeling that the new replacement will end up with the same issue. I have reason to believe its the latest firmware update but not sure because Razer wont officially acknowledge multiple people are having the same issue. Theyre treating it like mine is an isolated incident. This is why I’m urging anyone having this issue to really push it on Razer and follow through with the entire warranty exchange, despite how annoying it is, otherwise in less than a 12 months, you’ll have a $300 paperweight.  I’ll keep you updated.
