Giving up on Synapse

I’ve been a razer faithful since 2007-8. Been loving the products, the software, you name it. Never minded the high prices cause for a long time I considered it quality. But since getting my kraken kitty headset 2 years ago I’ve had nothing but trouble. The audio is crackling and dropping in and out. Never had this issue with headphones before. Well turns out (to the surprise of no one) that synapse is to blame. The audio stutters in both old and new games? Originates from synapse and chroma. So I had to disable a lot of features I actually wanted. That were the reason I got a chroma keyboard. Things like hooking into my games and setting up rgb maps and reactions for various games. I was bummed about that but figured okay, I’ll live without it, just having the backlight is fine. But for the past few months the audio drops in and out, I have to reconnect my headphones every few minutes to get the sound back. The connectors are clean, it’s a modern computer, and the issue goes away to 99% when synapse is uninstalled. With synapse it’s dropping and reconnecting my mouse, my keyboard, and anywhere from once an hour two multiple times a minute. I’ve followed all the published support guides to fix this, clean installs, cleaning up old drivers with razers own software, the works. Most I got was 2 hours relief before it started up again.

I’m sad and disappointed. It feels like razer has gone from actually making good stuff to resting on it’s laurels. Not only is the software side of things bloated as hell but it doesn’t even work right. I’m going out to buy myself a new headset tomorrow, because without synapse the kraken sounds like crap. The audio is flat with no depth to it and if it uses any enhancements from windows or anything else it starts crackling and popping again. Apart from the occasional mouse I won’t be buying more razer products (I’ve been using deathadders for 15+ years, don’t think I could adapt to a new mouse) because it doesn’t matter how good the hardware is if the software to manage it is crap, and people have been having issues like this for years.

You used to be better than this razer, what happened?

I have been experiencing the same problems! It is such a nuisance so much so that I am considering getting new headphones!

Such a shame they are such cute headphones too.
