Thank you, everyone for reporting and bringing this to our attention. We understand and truly apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

We’re aware of the issue on Synapse 3 causing high/abnormal CPU usage due to WMI Provider Host service.

We are looking into this and are actively working on a fix which will be available in a future Synapse update. We recommend checking for Synapse updates regularly. Thank you for your patience.

Should you need help with anything, you can always contact us through our Official Support sites. Our team is always happy to lend a hand.

This issue cost me about 2-3hrs of diagnostic searching to find.  I though it was the new Axon software but turns out to just be Razer Synapse.  It seems like this software has been quite distruptive on my PC since I got my Razer Blackwidow Elite and installed it. Makes me wonder what your development platform is. I am heavily invested in Raaer peripherals, how do I find out when this has been fixed.  it’s bad enough that I will have to uninstall it until it’s corrected.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone!

A new update for Synapse has just been released (V3.8.228.22313).

To update, launch Razer Synapse 3, click on the Setting button in the top right corner, select About, and check to see if the version is V3.8.228.22313 to confirm that you have the most recent update. If not, click "Check for Updates".

The update as it is being released gradually by region. Please regularly check if you can manually update your Razer Synapse 3 to version V3.8.228.22313.

Would love to but, I and it seems many others can’t even open Synapse to manually do anything. There probably wouldn’t be as much frustration if it ever actually opened instead of boot looping up 300 icons in the task tray.

Yup, just like that, and then when you scroll over them they all vanish. When you check the task manager they some of them still show up as running.

This is another problem than resource hogging the CPU. Please report to Razer Support. (Most of us are only normal users (Not Razer employees ) and can not fix problems in the code. ) Would also be nice if this new problem had another thread with a proper heading so others can see “your” problem, as it is now “hiding under another problem heading”.

don’t we test things in house before releasing into the wild?

Don’t you know?  When a customer calls support with a problem it’s highly likely that it’s not appearing in the customer support’s environment.  Having been on the other side of a problem many times, “It works for me.” Is a difficult thing to avoid saying.  Personally I am still experiencing this even though I’ve uninstalled everything except the Spacial Audio. :(

For this issue, think about it, probability wise, there is actually no way for Razer to not experience the problem.

Reason being, lots of  customers reported the same problem, but these customers are all on different environments, Win 11 vs Win 10, with Avast vs without Avast, with latest Windows Update vs without, with only Razer keyboard vs. Keyboard + Mouse + other gadgets.

I would be interested in knowing what kind of environment Razer support and development teams are on, that  allegedly does not experience this problem.

To add to the general frustration displayed here I’d like to mention that this problem was occuring since Sep. 22 and was only resolved this Mar 23. So i’m wondering how many complaints and tickets are needed until Razer officially acts, given the fact that it was “confirmed” by Razer Support as normal behavior in Oct 22:

Another thing that annoys me is that it’s actually an old problem reoccuring for pretty much 4 years?!

I still can’t install the software without the WMI bugging out.  It’s fine when I install but it escalates over time then the next thing I know it’s taking the bulk of my CPU cycles.  I will wait a few weeks and try again.

Issue is still happening on the latest version of the software

Same here. No improvement whatsoever with the latest version. I just have to completely kill all Razer processes in task manager in order to get the same performance I was having before I first started experiencing this issue about a month ago.

Yeah, and it’s so disappointing too.  I love Razer products!  But so far, I hate Synapse 3!  I mean, it’s actually pretty good until it starts crashing.  And it does that every 5-15 minutes.  Not good.  Come on Razer!  Let’s see this thing fixed!  Go get ‘em!

I am no longer experiencing this issue.  I am not Convinced that it was entirely a Razer Synapse issue. Since all  Issues of this kind are never cut and dry. I experienced the problem even after uninstalling all Razer products. Then I waited a while, did some updates, then I installed the products again, and I haven't had the issue for about a week..

If it’s something that only happens while Razer software is running, then the Razer software is the problem. Even if a WIndows update “broke” it, it’s Razer’s job to fix it.

Win 11 os.  Ryzen 5 5500, amd rx 7700 xt, 8gb x4 ram. Despite I have realized all suggestion to realize clean installation many times ( surely I do not have to do all this work after I pay a good amount of money for this device) I still get an  "installation failed contact technical support" error.  This is really a shame that make me do alot of staff to update my synapse. Why don't you have an effort to solve it simply instead of explaining how to fix it in  on dozens of pages linking us from one to another page. If I have to work on it for several hours to fix it, than make it opensource so that we develop the application instead of updating it. This is my first time purchasing a Razer product and I am really feeling stupid.

OK

this issue can be minimized by changing the process to low priority and/or setting the affinity to 1 or two cores, the computer will stutter in games, and anything that needs the WMI srvice will be slow, but internet videos, text processing, etc are usable without restart.

task manage> details> right click wmiservice exe> affinity/priority

this is definitely a synapse issue. its causing some type of loop/ leak in WMI service. when i uninstalled and restarted, i did not get the issue until i reinstalled razer 2 days later

for how much Ive paid for my razer products, this should be THE ONLY THING the devs are working on until it is

___ FIXED  ____

and you should be releasing the fix YESTERDAY.

what the hell are we paying you for?

that being said, when the software works, it works great, just fix this bug that, yaknow, makes my computer LITERALLY UNUSABLE ……………………...

this is so frustrating, razer. this is a messege to whomever makes the decision to keep your code proprietary ( and pass it on to THX and Microsoft devs/ceos, where it can relate):

how is this helping?

why are you paying devs to fix this free software, slowly, and give your hardware an undeserved bad name, when you could have a community fix it for free, probably within hours if not minutes, if you just open sourced it?

do you not think of how a bug like this affects streamers, who advocate for your hardware? or esports teams sponsored by you? rebooting, for a streamer, is a career killer. can you imagine, in football, if they suddenly discovered a pothole in the field and had to get a steamroller in real quick? this is bonkers. not to mention, there is previous evidence of this issue from years ago.

a team is only as strong as its weakest link, and on the whole THIS TYPE OF ISSUE is the weakest link when it comes to computer gaming. the industries backwards standard on proprietary software. stuff YOU broke, that YOU CONTROL (usually for free) that WE are affected by. and if you WERE to charge for your software so you could do whats necessary to make good software, you d get an equally bad reputation, and less sales.

just stop this nonsense, reduce the thx stuff to magic blobs,  remarket a new THX type or something, and do some hardware handshake in the future and call your current products a loss, before you end up like logitech with their reputation and their remotes and hubs that sudenly stopped working a few years ago

and if you did this, when theres a problem that isnt your fault (like this most likely isnt completely a razer dev issue) then youd have a community-- ARMY of smart, mouthy internet folk who can correctly point the blame at say, thx, or microsoft, and get them off their behinds

9 months still no update, no solution, no word. whats going on? is it time to abandon razer products? your move razer
