Adding my experience to the request for official Linux support: please include a supported firmware-update path, independently of whether Synapse itself is ported.

I use Fedora Linux with KDE and own a Razer Viper 8KHz (RZ01-03580). The mouse would sometimes not be detected at all after a cold boot. Today, unplugging it and reconnecting it restored detection, but that is a workaround rather than a lasting fix.

The mouse was running firmware 1.00.06. Razer's 1.02 release notes describe a fix for the mouse not being detected after a restart. I have now successfully updated it to 1.03.01, but I had to use Razer's Windows updater inside a Windows 11 virtual machine with USB passthrough. The mouse works in Fedora again; I still need to test subsequent cold boots before claiming that the intermittent issue is resolved.

The mouse was not listed by fwupdmgr on my system, and I could not find an official native Linux updater for it. Linux customers should not need a Windows installation or VM just to install firmware fixes for hardware they already own.

Razer, please publish signed firmware through the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS) and work with the fwupd project so we can update supported products using fwupdmgr or our desktop software center. An official standalone Linux updater would also help. If you cannot implement this directly, please provide firmware and update-protocol documentation so upstream developers can add support.

Could a Razer representative forward this to the firmware team and confirm whether LVFS/fwupd support is planned, including for existing products such as the Viper 8KHz?
