I’m here simply to advocate for Linux support. I have 3 Razer devices, headphones, keyboard and mouse and they struggle to work with Linux. Us Linux users should not have to settle for third part software like OpenRazer. While I respect their work it should not be on them to have to make these tools. We paid money for our devices, we expect support on Linux.

The program works, but there are still a few issues. I noticed that if I leave the profile set to something other than the default one after using Windows, the program stops working; I’m currently working on fixing that. I’m also checking whether connecting or disconnecting other USB devices interferes with the program's operation. Some people might not like this, but I use AI to help write the program—though I’m not entirely dependent on it; it acts more like an advisor suggesting solutions. If I were to just paste the code it generates, nothing would work the way it’s supposed to. Personally, I don’t mind using AI; what scares me more is natural human stupidity.

makes no difference to me how long it takes so good luck on tracking down your bugs 😘
this is a helluva lot better than 0 feedback from Razer about any Linux related stuff.
worse part is that have to review every post made here so we know they are being read….

it is working
I’m just wondering why is it the community who has to write linux software for £100+ razer gear….
There should be native builds of Synapse from the get-go… it’s not like Razer is a poor garage-project...

Am guessing it’s because Linux is open source whereas Razer has lots of propriety secrets buried in their code that they do not want anyone to steal.

That…. doesn’t make sense?…. you still need the Razer HW… and it’s not Synapse where razer makes the money in the first place...

well they would want to protect their sw under all circumstances.
software linked to hardware could also help with reverse engineering of it.
so Razer would want to protect both.
am not a Razer employee but I can guarantee the idea of having Linux drivers has been kicked around internally for many years.
They have to weigh up the disgruntled Linus user base who can muddle through with (in my case) 3 different programs to do what Synapse does as opposed to the many many more happy windows folks.
only recently with microslop becoming more and more shady and a lot more people turning away from their dodgy practices (one I heard about recently is ms giving up a users internet use despite him using what he thought was a safe vpn - there is a code by which every windoze users account it tied to that happily follows along all of the vpn links the path wishes to follow).
granted this chap had been a very naughty boy but still...so much for privacy.
anyway - hopefully more and more people will switch to the Linux of their choice and perhaps Razer might help us all out but am not holding me breath.

Just wait another year or two, and you’ll have to buy software subscriptions if you want full mouse functionality. You get three profiles—and for a mere five dollars a month, you can buy another one. Come visit our store, where you can also purchase extras like maximum sensor performance and other such nonsense. I’m doing this because I need it myself; I’m mainly doing it for my own sake.

This is must have ASAP… Since Windows 10 is going Bye Bye for me and refuse to use Windows 11.
I am planning to use Linux Mint Xfce instead.
I have a Tartarus V3 and use for gaming and have lots of programmed keys.

Officially reply number 100 adding to the call for Linux support!
Windows is just getting shitter and shitter. We need a better option!!!
Complete agree with you Windows 11 has became a joke due to many things wrong and so much bloat. Also being forced to use a non local account in the latest version of Windows 11. Plus the huge security back door hole in Windows Defender allowing anyone access to computers via system user permissions which is not fixed yet and most likely never get fixed.
So many people are switching to Linux that I have talked to and I work as a Systems Administrator in real life.
I get asked a lot on which Distro’s to recommend and I been telling them Linux Mint Xfce for the light weight and fast.
So come on Razer.

I mean, nVidia has proprietary drivers on Linux, nVidia of all…. so it doesn’t even have to be fully open (as some1 else said).
Though, Sonnet 5 had me capture some communication between my razer devices and my pc in a winslop VM, and I have achieved some progress with it… I guess if I’m persistent enough I’ll vibecode proper linux support for my devices before razer lifts a finger….

I would also hope for proper Linux support. I like the new naga v3 pro, but the lack of software support is holding me back.

I don't need them anymore; I managed to solve the problem myself. The program I wrote meets my expectations, and while I’ll be improving it gradually, it’s already working satisfactorily. It’s not perfect, but Windows started having so many issues that I’ve switched to Linux natively and don't boot up Windows anymore. I still have it installed because I need to organize some files on the drive where Windows resides, but I have no plans to go back to it. Linux isn't perfect either—not everything works right out of the box—but you can get things running. With Windows, on the other hand, you install something and it works until it suddenly stops, or an update sneaks in some bloatware alongside the program. You can forget about privacy, too. I also plan to cut ties with all Google services and other spyware-laden subscription solutions as soon as possible. The only thing I still use is AI, but I’m starting to install and use solutions that run locally; Linux offers amazing capabilities for configuring AI and optimizing PC memory usage.

I also don’t intend to ever go back to Windows nor do I have access to a windows machine. Also I do not want to turn this thread into a Linux vs Windows debate. I think people from this thread are here because they have already made the choice in Linux.
While it is great that you are able to build a tool on your own, my hope is that Razer would provide official first party support themselves. The reason I say this is: If I buy a product I expect it to work with all features, without having to troubleshoot it myself or build the software myself.
At the moment I do not feel comfortable buying a fancy product like naga v3 pro which relies on software without knowing for sure it will work.

I’m registered specifically to add hype for this. I dumped Windows from all of my computers over a year ago and haven’t looked back.
From now on, no Tux, no bucks!
Please and thank you.

I switch to Linux as well and I like to game with my Razer Tartarus Pro. It is kinda useless now if I can’t setup different key binds and macros. Openrazer is grate for setting up lighting and DPI be dose not do key bindings. I hope Razer will do something about it soon. I wold love to get bake to playing on my beloved gaming keypad.

100% all this. More and more gamers are moving to linux as Windows keeps using AI to update the OS.
It’s probably a lot of work, but Steam is where the gamers are at, and with steam moving to Linux, eventually gamers will all realize the same thing, maybe razer with all their gaming peripherals should support where the gamers are moving.

have you tried Input Remapper?
not sure if it supports Tatarus but worth a shot.
I found it works perfectly with my Orbweaver.

Epic have just announced they will soon have full Linux support, and they have a solution for the anti-cheat, so it will work without kernel access. This means that Fortnite is coming to Linux soon. They have also stated that they have reached out to Valve and hope they will be willing to corporate with this initiative.

When all the most popular competitive on-line games can be played at Linux, I’m very sure we will see a lot more professional gamers shift and suddenly there will only be low rate esport teams to sponsor for Razer, thus they will be forced to support Linux, if they want pro-gamers to use their products. Those 10% CPU power, Copilot is using, means a lot in high level competitive gaming.

Well, Microsoft extended Windows 10 for another year.
I have tried to used OpenRazer and input remapper, To beable to create some my macros that I have Razer Synapse 4 was a very big pain in the you know what.
So, over the next 10 months I will be looking for new devices that have software that will run on Linux Mint Xfce that is like Razer Synapse 4.
Then I will be switching Linux Mint Xfce and good bye to Razer. All my Razer devices will be paper weights and unused.
So many games are going Linux now and so many people are switching to Linux due to Microsoft issues , problems and so on, Linux is free for the most part and the performance on Linux is way much better than Microsoft Windows.
Razer is going to start loosing money and revenue if they do no their act together soon and get Razer Synapse to work on Linux.

I hear ya pointaction….am quite lucky in the devices I have being the Razer Trinity and Orbweaver.
at least the Trinity has onboard memory so my rebound buttons have stuck very well (tho’ of course I could only do this via windows and using synapse) and for the Orbweaver input remapper works really well on Bazzite.
am not really one for using macros so I don’t miss that part of synapse at all.
I recently dumped Openrazer as it only seems useful for colour control which I am not at all interested in.
I have been buying backups 2nd hand for orbweaver and trinity so hope to go a few years on those if breakdowns happen.
good thing the trinity side plates are movable to other trinity mice so one full set is an easy interchange.
personally I have not found another mouse and controller like the 2 I use every day so I am a little stuck on Razer but it will be interesting to see what other products drop over the coming years.
