How I'm getting my new Razer Naga V3 Pro to work on my Mac.

Krenz

I ordered the new Razer Naga V3 Pro, and it showed up yesterday.

I was disheartened to see that it's not recognized in the Razer Synapse for Mac software (Version 4.0. [removed by moderator] ).

So I decided to use a technique that I've used with previous Razer mice that have onboard memory.

I'm posting this here on the chance that it helps some of you.

The only major downside is that you need access to a Windows machine that can run the current Razer Synapse software. Luckily, I have an old laptop that works great for this.

Connect the Razer Naga V3 Pro to the Windows machine.

Install/open the Synapse software on that Windows machine.

Use Synapse to configure all of the mouse buttons, scroll wheel & tracking options.

These settings will automatically be saved to the onboard memory of the Razer Naga V3 Pro.

Connect the mouse to your Mac and all of your settings should be present and functioning natively.

A bonus discovery that I made yesterday: I have discovered that you can use the Windows key modifier as the Command key (⌘) on a Mac.

I believe that USB sees this as a generic GUI key, which you might recognize if you've ever programmed a QMK keyboard.

I have successfully set up these three keyboard shortcuts on the mouse and they work beautifully on my Mac with no other software needed.

⌘ [ (back)
⌘ ] (forward)
⌘ ` ( I use this to cycle through windows in the active application hundreds of times every day.)

All I had to do was choose the symbol in Synapse and then add the modifier of the Windows key.

To be honest, I was surprised at this discovery (as I didn't expect it to work). That said, I'm ecstatic that it is working flawlessly.

So until we get a Mac Synapse update that supports the Razer Naga V3 Pro, I am sticking with the above, it is as it is a fully functional workaround.

I hope that helps!

Thank you, but I don’t have any windows device. Of course I can borrow from somebody else, but I just can’t believe Razer Launched the new Naga without any support on Mac. I think they underestimated the amount of Mac users. Maybe we don’t play as much, but we can still love the shape/design/build quality of Razer mice. I hope the synapse team saw this and fix it ASAP.

I just got mine today. Absolutely ridiculous to launch a product and have no support in their own platform. I am returning mine and never buying this brand again.

I’m in the same boat. Bought it a couple of days ago and having a really hard time trying to play WoW without being able to recalibrate the buttons. I don’t own a windows machine nor do I want to pay to install an OS I won’t use on my Mac. It’s really annoying to spend so much on a product and not have the support for it on Mac.

Please Razer – just give us some indication of when it’s likely to be supported on Mac via Synapse!

For Mac users, you can download the Parallels Desktop free trial in order to install Windows. I really didn’t want to go down this route but I just don’t want to sit around and wait for Razer to update Synapse for Mac. I read online that once you calibrate your mouse on a Windows machine, it saves the profile to the mouse itself.

I downloaded the Parallel Desktop free trial, then downloaded Synapse 4 on it. You have to make sure the Naga is plugged in and then you need to select the mouse itself via the USB settings in Parallel Desktop – this is so that the mouse appears to be plugged into the Windows virtual machine and not the Mac. You download Windows via Parallels Desktop so it’s super handy.

Video of that process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?si=sWZV01kL0oSIVsPa&v=3JCuX9HA12Q&feature=youtu.be

I managed to then configure my Naga V3 and it now works perfectly on my Mac when playing WoW.

Some context – I play WoW on my Mac so ideally wanted the full button remapping functionality to make the most out of the Naga V3 Pro. When I first plugged in the mouse, WoW exclusively recognises the sideplate 1-12 mouse number buttons as the iMac keyboard numbers, meaning that 1 on the Naga V3 Pro would control 1 on my keyboard – not ideal. I tried to rebind them with SHIFT/CTRL/CMD modifiers (I.e. SHIFT + 1) but WoW just wasn’t recognising the input for SHIFT, CTRL or CMD for some reason. Other forums suggested downloading Karabiner Elements and that did the trick for making WoW recognise the SHIFT, CTRL and CMD inputs.

If anyone wants a full guide then please let me know and I’ll type a full one out. Hope this bit of info helps a few people at least!

that looks like way too much effort, but kudos for trying to solve the problem.  i tried to create a profile on my windows pc and ran into a few issues.  first, i couldnt record cmd-shift-4 for screenshotting.  using the windows key shift 4 would not record.  even tried win-shift and the other numbers for screenshotting. no joy.  there’s a shortcut i’d be missing.

the other issue i had was mouse button 4 and 5.  i have those mapped on my v2 pro and it works fine in both chrome and safari for forward/back.  on the v3, it works in chrome but safari will only work a few times then it stops registering, but still continues to work in chrome. im aware of the keyboard shortcut to move forward/back in safari and it also works in chrome but the issue is, thats not mouse4/5 so other apps that properly recognize mouse4/5 now dont have those buttons available.

of course a solution to the above would be a safari profile… but w/o synapse working, there’s no automatic app profile switching.  and im not wasting a button to swap profiles manually nor would i want that extra step.

just too many compromises for what should be working out of the box if razer gave a damn.
