Could somebody please specify a specific release date for this year's 4K Blade 15 in the UK because i have been waiting for it and, although Razer said July on their website, the month is almost up and there is no sign of change or release. Pls reply if you know more than I do because it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I am trying not to hold my breath or hope too much but I'm hoping so too
It's been so tempting to get from Razer, or Scan, but I've held out too (I also go the 2 year protection plan for £130 - which sounded pretty good value as it covered accidental damage as well!)

misterg36yeah same story here pre-ordered with that 2 year insurance, i read into it and it covers accidental damage so things like dropping it and shattering the screen or water damage I imagaine, most likely never gonna let anything like that happen to my 2.5k laptop but good to know I'm covered XD. Yeah same thing here in terms of waiting too, pre-ordered it very late in june thinking it would release 1st week of july and here we are late august lol, been waiting for well over a month and a half. Its the first razer product I'm buying and from reading that they have customer service that could do with improvements, amazon is much safer. I also think that I've been waiting far too long now for it to come out on amazon to order it somewhere else now. The coming working week, i have my hopes up that it will arrive at my door. The wait has literally seemed like a lifetime XD

SynclideIf you got nothing from Amazon the other day (I didn't) I noticed Scan changed their date to 03rd September - so thats the new wish date :) https://www.scan.co.uk/products/156-razer-blade-uhd-ips-60hz-i7-8750h-16gb-ddr4-512gb-m2-nvme-ssd-8gb-geforce-gtx-1070-thunderbolt3

SynclideYup, though I've asked them if they are fulfilling pre-orders or just dont have them. I've been checking this: https://www.nowinstock.net/uk/computers/laptops/razer and have seen the 144hz one go in and out of stock in Amazon - so don't know if anyone has had them in just for the pre-orders (and Amazon haven't got to mine yet) or if Razer haven't given any of the 4k ones to external suppliers. More hoping and waiting :(
3rd of september and no sign of change :'( lol

misterg36Yes UK. Came this morning. However I think it might have come earlier but I'd changed my card since ordering, but failed to update my order to my new card number - they first attempted to invoice me on Wednesday but it bounced on the old card number. When I called to update and ask why they didn't just use the card that I'd already updated and used on other orders they gave me £5 which was nice. 8th June order

crypticchey thanks for the update! this is definiately strange from amazon's side not to update the blade 4k's status, so for you if you go on amazon and type in razer blade 15 4k does it still show 'available for preorder' written on it or is that just me? and did you get the standard amazon emails saying its been dispatched, it will arrive tommorow etc? whatever this is must have to do with pre-order date as mine was placed 30th june, much later than yours. Questions aside, congrats on your new laptop!! i bet you must have loved to unbox it after waiting so long XD! do let us know how it peforms generally and whilst gaming if you get the chance, hopefully you are impressed as the vast majority of the people on the forum with regards to display, performance, build quality, feel etc! once again congrats on your new laptop, enjoy!

crypticcBrilliant, have fun with it And thanks again for letting us know. I was starting to think Amazon was never going to get them in, but it looks like they have them and are fulfilling orders in a first come first serve - which is great. Soooo many times I've been tempted to get the 144hz which still seems awesome but I'm glad I've waited as I need the 4k for coding :)

misterg36hey, just a quick one because I'm wanting to get into basic coding softwares myself later this year, what makes the 4k version good for someone who wants to code?

SynclideIt's just about "screen real estate" which just means more space Although the physical screen size for a 1080p and 4k are identical, you can fit more information on a 4k screen (Exactly 4 times as much). So if you take a simple spreadsheet, and on a 1080p screen you could see 26 columns and 30 rows at once - on a 4k screen you could see 92 columns and 120 rows which is a lot more information (albeit smaller in size). So for coding, you can see twice as much script vertically at any one time (which is useful for long blocks of code). If you use the unreal engine - other game engines are available - you can have a 1080p view port and still have half the screen left for coding and another 1080p worth of space for debugging (or email :) ).

misterg36Hi both After the teething issues with getting the right drivers installed, (see throttling thread although I didn't really have thermal throttlin), and fixing the charging when off (dedicated thread) it's been rock solid through about 10 runs each of firestrike, timespy. and cinebench GPU and CPU tests. Relevant only to the 4k model I will say running the aboveabo 1080 mode makes a small improvement compared to 4k. But I also ran firestrike ultra 4k for shits and giggles and although it scored fair frame rates were clunky. Also pcmark a few times although those results were a little on the low side and I was running on battery (although max perf). It's a long test and ran out of patience so reeun plugged in. Besides running on battery was more to test the battery. The full suite took from 90% to 72% with max perf, fans on auto. Not sure about the GPU oc because I think synapse overrode my afterburner seeing when I unplugged power. I've posted some benchmarks on the throttling thread. I don't think I have thermal throttling but there is some power limit going on I think. Temperature wise the bbi everyone was complaining about, and that concerned me, was physics temperature. The top bit above the fn keys never got too hot to handle and not hotter than say the outside of a mug of hot chocolate trut a thick mug. Pcmark as i said something else was going on, it was only marginally warmer than hand hot temperature when it'd finished. Screen is even. No backlight bleed at corners or edges although l can see where I believe there's two horizontal bars ever so slightly dimmer at 30% and 60% heights horizontally across full screen. I guess this is either the shade for the led at that position or perhaps where less at 15, 50 and 75 aren't quite overlapping. Only visible at higher brightness settings and not visible except in flat colour test images. I'm comparing it to my LG oled TV of which I've got a good un and the slight zipper I have at the edge of that screen at 5-10 IRE is more pronounced. Comparing it to a LCD screen it is much better I think. Keyboard is lovely and I'm just getting there with the right arrow. Touchpad also excellent although finding two finger scrolling, and two finger right click less precise. I think it detects my thumb resting at bottom of the laptop while I'm using the first and second finger. I need to get used to moving thumb completely off the pad/ device and I think is because it's larger touchpad and extends lower than the older macair I had. Overall. Happy. Although as my brother in law said, bloody should be at that price. :)

Thanks for all the info Crypticc it will definitely help us get started quicker.
Really happy to see that thermal throttling isn't bad. I'd much rather power limiting than thermal throttling so great to see that happening.
For the performance testing on battery, have you got the "Gforce experience" installed or just the Nvidia drivers.
If you do, look at the "battery boost" option. Nvidia hide it away, but it limits all games to 30 fps when running on battery. It does help by giving you an extra 30 mins of gaming on battery but I wish they made it more obvious.
I'm hoping mine should be any day now, but it's great to know it fulfils it's promises.. sooooo looking forward to it :)
crypticcWhen you order from amazon there is an insurance option for (£130 - but only at the time of buying). If you don't have any, consider home contents insurance if you have that (or they have it in the place you live) - you will probably have to add it as a special item but it will protect it from theft etc and IF the policy has accidental damage it will be covered for that too. (You may also be able to ask Amazon as you did only just buy it) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DO4AJS6/ref=psd_bb_lm_B07D1H5P8K_B01DO4AJS6 Well I gave up waiting for Amazon UK in the end. I called them and they told me they never had any 4k models in stock (clearly not true) and had no eta I ordered direct from Razer as I was watching their store and saw one for sale.. So it looks like it should be this week and fingers crossed their support is as good as it has been so far (As I've only had a good experience with them) The sensible part of me says I should have waited for Amazon, but my heart went with Razer direct :)

Look, the Blade 15 has a major component manufactured in Japan. The flooding in Japan has caused no Blade 15's to be produced, which means a huge backorder of 15's. Either way, bitching on the forums won't make it appear in your country any faster. It's still out of stock here in the US. Everyone can't get one, even the people returning faulty ones for a new one. My best guess? 3rd week of August while backorders in the US are fulfilled, and RMA's are sent out. Happy you know, now?
PeachPuffpulsefocus099
This is specifically about the 4k version, which was slated to be released before that happened - so your point is moot. Bitching doesn't fix it, you're correct - what people ARE doing, as noted in others, is just buying elsewhere. Fan boy a little less, mmmkay? Your guess is as good as Razer's as far as when it will actually be up for SALE, as evidenced by two months of failed deadlines, is pretty useless.

crypticcI know. I even said that on the call. All they would say to me was "if it says it hasn't been released we have never had them - otherwise it would say out of stock" I've seen them on the Razer site for the last 2 months - they pop up for sale for about 10 mins and then are out of stock again. I just got off the call to Amazon, saw they had one in stock - ordered it and saw it go out of stock 2 mins later. I think if they had just given me a real date I would have waited. On a slightly different note I have to say I totally love it. If I stay off "gaming mode" the temperatures never get too high (something the other 6 laptops I sent back never managed). I also saw 45fps in 4k with Destiny 2 (none gaming mode) - so am really happy you can choose full performance with heat, or usable performance with no heat issues. And wow is it a beautiful laptop :)

misterg3645 Fps 4K isn’t bad, 15 FPS better than PS4 Pro, and only 15FPS lower than core v2 1080ti that costs €1300.

misterg36Hi misterg , been a while, not sure why insider didn't notify me of the new comments made in this thread and I got occupied with work, so I've only just seen all the comments past our last 'why coding is better with 4k' talk. But that aside, I can completely understand the decision to order it from razer directly, this is now becoming a joke from amazon's side, I'm going to give them a serious phone call tomorrow morning, this will be like my 6th phone call about the release date since early august. I think it's crazy that the 4k has been in stock then out of stock on razer UK 2 times since early august now and amazon still haven't managed to satisfy all pre-order customers. Every one of those times I called, i'd get the same sort of reply ''on the system it shows up as not yet released, when it gets released you will be notifyed by email'' LOL. I might even ask directly for a manager. Bottom line is there's only so long I am willing to wait before buying it from amazon holds no benefit. That insurance covering accidental damage for 2 years is the main reason i haven't cancelled my order from them. What's the point of ''pre-ordering'' an item if you don't actually have it in your house sometime resonably close to when the manufacturer released it (early august for razer UK on the 4k model). That time window of being 'resonably close' has probably ran out for me at this stage, and theres only so much longer I'm willing to extend it for the sake of that 2 year accidental damage coverage (which I probably will never even use). Digressing, Congrats on finally getting the 4k I know you've been waiting ages on it XD! 45 fps in 4k on destiny without gaming mode is fantastic, if it can run that good on 4k then I bet on 1080p or 1440p (settings I will use for gaming) it could easily get 60fps. By chance do you play fortnite? I was wondering if you could test out 1080p, 1440p and 4k on epic settings with shadows off and see what sort of fps you get? By the sounds of things this was definately worth the wait and the right choice over the 144hz for us 50/50 gamers/editors, the fps delivers and the additonal touch screen and 100% aRGB must make the media consumption pleasant to watch and amazing.

SynclideHey Synclide, no worries Destiny 2 runs at about 12-150fps at 1080p I play quite a bit of fortnight (though save the world), so happy to give you some framerates when I'm next on. I will try and get you some 1440p ones too (I have a 1440p monitor, but usually use a razer core, so will try going direct to see what it gets. I've also managed a -150v undervolt, so with Destiny 2 the CPU didnt get above 85C - which was amazing

SynclideOk, I've got some Fortnite Battle Royal numbers for you: The lower number is what it was at most of the time, and the higher number was what I saw some of the time.
Hi misterg , been a while, not sure why insider didn't notify . By chance do you play fortnite? misterg36Hey thanks for the reply, those FPS readings are much better than I expected tbh, so that’s a bonus, yeah blur and shadows are always off for me. But yeah thanks dude
Ok, I've got some Fortnite Battle Royal numbers for you: The lower number is what it was at most of the time, and the higher number was what I saw some of the time. All of them with ultra everything, but blur off (I can't stand blur) - so you could probably tone down stuff if you want it higher. Also I think Battle Royal is more cpu and network intensive If you ever want more, a razer core and 1080Ti gives you at least 80% of the full performance of that card so awesome if you want better desktop performance (and the core and core 2 act as a docking station and give ethernet)
- 4k - 35 fps
- 2k (1440p) - 65fps - 75fps
- 1k (1080p) - 90fps - 150fps
