nommo v2 subwoofer not working

So for my nomo v2 (not pro), the subwoofer only work on bluetooth.  When connected via usb, no output heard from the subwoofer.  Updated the firmware to 1.7 and still no help.  Any idea of how to get it to work with USB, or am I stuck with using the bluetooth only?
