Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023), doesn't respond to eq settings

dailyZaffreSHELL578

Apparently I’m not the only one with this problem... I bought new headphones for 200 usd, connected them to the PC and synapse, they were detected, but did not respond to the sound settings at all... Equalizer, loudness, noise isolation, and other settings do not affect the headset in any way . The sad thing is that such a small indie company as Razer cannot afford an adequate programming staff. I'm using Windows 11 24H2 latest build.

Definitely some issues with synapse implementation of THX driver/components on WIndows 11 24H2. On my Razer Blade 18 I had a ton of issues with the audio tab in synapse such as the volume slider unlinking from the one in windows and thus making 0 changes to volume or the EQ randomly resetting to another EQ state. Also after uninstalling with revo uninstaller to remove leftover files or registry entries after uninstalling and then reinstalling the audio would sync up and work again for a moment but then the razer app engine would just crash over and over. I managed to resolve this by logging out of razer synapse 4 and razer chroma but it still seems buggy at times. It also may be causing spikes with DPC system latency which can cause mouse or system stuttering and/or audio pops and clicks. Hoping they manage to resolve with future updates to synapse or audio drivers. Also though (guessing you already have this setup correctly and its not working anyway but just in case) make sure you have default device effects enabled under your windows audio source or synapse cannot connect to the headset driver (even if it wasn’t buggy) so any changes that would be made in synapse would not make any changes to the audio on the headset

Thanks for the answer, yes, I have all this turned on, it’s not the first day I’ve been sitting at a PC after all. In any case, it's a shame that Razer are so helpless that they can't fix their drivers...

No problem. I sorta figured that might be the case given you went through the effort of posting on the forum and everything. One thing you could try just in case it helps is uninstalling synapse using revo uninstaller to scan for leftover files and registry entries which normally remain on the system after the uninstall- then reinstall synapse and make sure to continue as guest instead of logging in. There is a chance that may help but it also may not. If not you could repeat this process but on reinstall try installing synapse 3 instead (and I don’t think it matters as much for synapse 3 if you are logged in or not) and see if it works any better. Really sucks that its been so buggy lately, I am hoping the devs are at least working on the issue so it can be resolved in the near future. Definitely a shame but also likely partially windows fault as well since 23H2 and 24H2 have had tons of issues for many users in general and 24H2 does have some known audio issues

Yes, friend, I have Revo pro and total uninstaller, I demolished synapse several times, and reinstalled Windows once, so there is definitely a problem, and definitely with synapse, we will wait for feedback from the developers.

Ah I see, sorry to hear that, I went as far as to reinstalling windows/resetting my system to factory defaults in attempts to resolve the issues I was having too. Technology can be such a pain sometimes. Really hope that we hear something from the devs or that they are able to release a patch for the issue sometime soon.

hello just letting you know that there is probably an issue with the synapse and probably nothing from your end since i’ve been experiencing exact same thing after i formatted my pc and tried to reinstall

my guess is something wrong with the thx installer and that is preventing the eq changes

Yes, the problem is obviously in the synapse, because the same third-party apo equalizer adjusts the headphones without any problems, and most likely I will have to use it.

Synapse 4 is definitely buggy, I still had issues with synapse 3 as well though which makes me wonder if it is just synapse or something else. Synapse 3 was way more stable, but audio settings still wouldn’t seem to work properly occasionally and it seemed to lose connection to the audio driver or hardware causing adjustments to settings in the sound tab to do nothing. This makes me think that there is actually a good chance that the issue may be in the device firmware and not just synapse. I think synapse 4 does seem to have some issues with profile syncing/remembering which profile should be applied though and also clearly has stability issues as it crashes all the time. It definitely could still be the cause of all of the issues but its also possible that the problems with synapse not being able to adjust the audio settings correctly may lie in the firmware/drivers that allows the hardware to communicate with synapse.

Do you use a razer laptop by any chance? If so it may be a problem with laptop firmware as many of the people reporting similar issues are using razer blade laptops. If not, there is a good chance that its either THX audio driver/headset firmware or synapse. It doesn’t matter too much as we probably just need to wait for devs to address the issue and release updates to solve it either way but at least might help to know where to look for updates.

Fix for Blackshark V2 Pro
Hello friend, I found a temporary way to fix the application of synapse settings, and it seems to work well for me.
