Synapse 4 Never ending list of bugs

It is funny that the official Beta version was more stable, and less buggy than the current released version.

I have raised a number of tickets, which do not even cover the issues I have faced.

It does not recognise that you are running a particular program in the foreground.  Sometimes it does recognise that a program is being used, but does not activate the relevant Choma setting, only the hardware profiles.

It does not recognise a particular program is installed - Microsoft Word, while the other Microsoft Office programs are identified.

While there are nice things about Synapse 4, I will be returning to Synapse 3.  Even though that means I will have to manually recreate my profiles.  At least with Synapse 3, the issues were lessened.

Indeed my friend. I don’t have strength to go back to Synapse 3 but maybe if Synapse 4 will surprise me with something else I probably go back to Logitech.

See the thread about Blackshark users (like myself). Spatial audio got broken and it hadn’t been fixed for months. Even after returning to Synapse 3 there are still problems.
I was a Razer fanboy for many years but my hope in Razer is about to be gone. I am sad to say this but the next purchase probably won’t be from them.

People here saying that all companies have problems with the software but in my opinion not that big like here. All basics things for example logitech are working in the app.

I have just spent the better part of the day recreating the Synapse 4 profiles in Synapse 3. 

I would say that there isn't any reason to upgrade to Synapse 4.  The profiles activate quickly, and correctly.  Even a “difficult” program such as FallOut New Vegas from Epic Synapse 3 recognises and applies the correct profile.  This is something that the “new and improved” Synapse 4 couldn't do.

The only caveat I would give in returning to Synapse 3, would be to  do a completely clean installation.  This meant not just uninstalling the program, but going deep into the registry.  Otherwise the Macro function would not work - this lost me a significant amount of time.

I notice that Synapse 4 had an update today but link or button whatever with Patch notes not working like almost everything in app but maybe you know where I can find patch notes ?

Also app is setup with automatic update enabled and can’t be turned off, which shouldn't happen because in the current situation we don't want to have the last version that works worse than beta.

I ask support for this also let them explain because autoupdate might be agnist EU law, button is implemented but we don’t have control under application and data and patch notes are not shared anywhere. 
 

It's  unbelievable that i cannot find any patch notes about the latest version. So for now, i'll stick to Synapse 3.

Razer made some updates it is not normal that one day for my setup rgb was working and next day no and this not affect only me but if you check this form there a coule of people who also have this issue, you see the Last Update date for synapse and chroma, those dates are changed because before that whole ^#%* was happen the Last Update date for synapse was 15 feb 2025 and in that date everything was work ok for me. Now I have 18 feb 2025 and miracles happening. I don’t remember date of chroma but for sure it was not 14 feb 2025 but around 12 feb 2025 but I’m not 100% sure.

Additionally keyboard tab is not react well like before, now I need to wait few minutes when manually switch keyboard profile, game mode if I change on one profile it showing that on all profiles change was made but this is not true because when I start the game it seems that whole tab start to working and all changes I was done they start to happen one by one, it looks like you doing changes but nothing changing and when you start the game everything what I changed in that keybord tab it is stating like video playback xD

Good to know that the version also they not changing bravo Razer :) 

Update:

Version 4.0.433 is a version of installer

If you right click on razer icon in windows tray and choose setting and go to general tab you will see this version - this is a version of that menu what you open by right click

If you open synapse 4 and click settings and later general you will see this version - this is a real version of synapse 4

If you open chroma settings and later general you will see this version - this is a version of chroma app

I don’t know why razer need so many versions of each part of entire software but it seems they all can be updated changed which mean that they are separate programs to have open gate for changes or diffrent teams are responsible for each part of entire software which mean that they are in a.. xD

 

My Kraken V3 headset wont save color profiles when I turn them on occasionally.

Razer Synapse 4 is occasionally using 50%-80% CPU usage for no reason, which causes the app to lock up or straight up crash.

Editing profiles in studio don’t show the colors that are actually active on the devices, or move them around willy nilly also without issue on the actual hardware.

I upgraded from 3.0 in hopes it would be more stable, but no it’s actually worse.

I’ve had issues since 2.0 and the fact they just abandon previous software to make another buggy mess is honestly embarrassing.

I love Razer hardware but their software has been atrocious since the start it seems.

Syncing my MSI GPU doesn’t change the individual LEDs but sets them all as one color, whether this is a compatibility issue on MSI’s or Razer’s part is still unknown.

I had also forgot to mention that that Razer PWM fan controller “auto” setting does not actually control my fans appropriately, also a bug in 3.0

IDK if my other post went through so here’s a quick summary

High CPU usage, crashes and freezes, Chroma Studio moving layout around, and not displaying colors in studio that are on the devices itself.

MSI sync sets all LEDs to one color, but not sure if that’s an MSI problem or not

If someone have problem with changing profiles on keyboard or other device try to switch USB, this might required to uninstall device drivers before changing. I didn’t have to change device drivers. I find this by my own, support maybe try to help but they using standard way in all cases the route of helping is always the same.

Yeah, doing upgrade over Synapse 3 is buggy. Even still, Chroma profiles get stuck on game exit.

You have right and I know this issue and it’s alive long time without patch.

Synapse 4 stuttering games. Yes I don’t lie, for some reason razer synapse 4 is generate stuttering in games. When I uninstall entire synapse 4 with chroma app the stutters vanish. This is also can be checked by ufo test from blur busters https://www.testufo.com/animation-time-graph if you have red spikes it means that you have stutters. When you run PC in safe mode with network and do the test you will see that there is no red spikes. When you uninstall synapse 4 the only red spikes what left are from browser probably. 

Closing the app not helps, app must be deleted entirely.

I think we have winner from many issues. This should be a major problem for razer because it results on your PC performance. God know on what more.

I’m wonder if synapse 3 is also generate those stutters.
